Synopsis

WHILE CONDUCTING INTERPHONE COORD; ZJX CTLR DOES NOT HEAR OR RESPOND TO WX DEV BY AN ACR WHICH CONFLICTS WITH ANOTHER ACR AT THE SAME ALT.

Narrative

ACFT #1 AND #2 CHKED ON PROCEEDING NBOUND. ACFT #2 WAS ON THE L. ACFT #1 WAS APPROX 60 MI E OF ACFT #2. WX WAS IMPACTING THE AREA AND SOME PLANES WERE DEVIATING. ACFT #1 REQUESTED A L DEV FOR WX OF APPROX 35 MI. I APPROVED THE DEV AND PROCEEDED TO CALL ZMA WITH SOME COORD. WHILE ON THE LANDLINE; ACFT #1 SAID HE ACTUALLY NEEDED TO DEV ABOUT 60 MI E OF COURSE. I DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE BECAUSE I DID NOT HEAR THE XMISSION. FOR A WHILE; ACFT #1 WAS TRACKING ABOUT 20 DEGS L OF COURSE. ACFT #1 THEN PROCEEDED TO TURN FURTHER NW. UPON RECOGNIZING THE TIGHTER CONVERGENCE; I ISSUED A TURN CLRNC TO ACFT #2 AND A DSCNT CLRNC TO ACFT #1 AND REQUESTED AN EXPEDITIOUS DSCNT. I THEN PROCEEDED TO TURN ACFT #1 20 DEGS TO THE R FOR FURTHER SEPARATION. SEPARATION WAS LOST. UPON REGAINING SEPARATION; BOTH ACFT WERE CLRED ON COURSE. I WAS THEN TOLD BY MY IMMEDIATE SUPVR AS WELL AS THE AREA MGR TO ADVISE ACFT #1 OF A POSSIBLE PLTDEV; NOT KNOWING THAT HE HAD SAID HE WAS GOING TO DEV UP TO 60 MI AS OPPOSED TO THE 35 MI THAT I HAD HEARD AND ACKNOWLEDGED.
