A B762 CREW FOUND THEMSELVES WITH A FAILING R ENG AT FL260 DSNDING INTO PBI.
DSCNT INTO PBI; COPLTS LEG; PASSING FL260; COPLT TRIED TO INCREASE THRUST BUT R ENG STAYED AT IDLE. COMMAND SECTOR WOULD APPEAR ON N1; FOLLOWING THRUST LEVER. TRIED USING ANTI-ICE TO CLR ANY POSSIBLE SILENT COMPRESSOR STALL BUT NO HELP. TURNED OFF R EEC BUT NO HELP. 3 OR 4 MINS LATER; I NOTICED THE R N2 HAD DECREASED FROM 68% TO 63% AND SO INFORMED THE COPLT. WHEN IT DECREASED BELOW 60%; I TOLD THE COPLT I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO FAIL; AND DECLARED AN EMER WITH ZJX. GOT DIRECT TO PBI; CALLED THE OUTBOUND LEADER/HEAD FLT ATTENDANT) TO THE COCKPIT; BRIEFED HER AND REQUESTED SHE SEND THE DEADHEADING CAPT TOP. HE CAME UP; I BRIEFED HIM AND ASKED HIM TO LOOK IN THE PROCS MANUAL FOR ANY IDEAS AND ASKED FOR HIS INPUT. HE HAD NO IDEAS AND FOUND NOTHING RELEVANT. I HAD LOOKED IN THE POM AND FOUND NOTHING EITHER. I ASKED HIM TO USE THE SECOND RADIO TO CALL OUR MAINT AT ZZZ TO SEE IF THEY HAD ANY INPUT; BUT THEY HAD NO IDEAS EITHER. COPLT AND I PLANNED AND BRIEFED SINGLE ENG APCH AND GAR PROCS IN CASE WE HAD TO SHUT IT DOWN BEFORE LNDG. ABOUT 3 MI PRIOR TO THE MARKER; THE N2 HAD WOUND DOWN TO ABOUT 30% AND THE OIL PRESSURE HAD DROPPED TO 12 PSI AND THE INDICATED TURNED RED; SO I SHUT IT DOWN. LNDG AND ROLLOUT TO THE END WERE UNEVENTFUL AND SO WE TAXIED TO THE GATE.
