A CARJ CREW; AFTER LNDG AT ORD; CONTINUED FROM THE HIGH SPD ONTO THE PARALLEL WITHOUT CLRNC FROM GND CTL.
WE HAD JUST LANDED AT ORD ON RWY 14R AND WERE EXITING ON THE HIGH SPD TURNOFF ONTO TXWY T6. I WAS TAXIING WHILE THE FO SAID HE WAS LEAVING COM #1 TO TALK TO COMPANY TO TRY AND GET US A GATE ASSIGNMENT. UNFORTUNATELY; OUR COMPANY NEVER KNOWS WHAT OUR GATE WILL BE UNTIL WE ARE ON THE GND; DUE TO A LACK OF GATE SPACE. YET GND CTL ALWAYS WANTS TO KNOW OUR GATE AS SOON AS WE CLR THE RWY. ORD IS A VERY BUSY ARPT AS EVERYBODY KNOWS AND GND CTL LIKES EVERYBODY TO KEEP MOVING AND DON'T STOP. WHEN GND CTL CAME OVER THE RADIO THEY SAID TO USE TXWY A6 THEN TXWY B TO THE GATE. WHEN THE GND CTLR HAD SAID THIS I WAS ALREADY INITIATING A TURN ONTO TXWY T; WHICH IS THE USUAL RTE. SHORTLY AFTERWARD THE FO CAME BACK WITH A GATE FOR US AND I INFORMED HIM OF THE SIT. THE FREQ WAS CONGESTED AND THE FIRST CHANCE THAT THE FO HAD TO GET BACK TO GND CTL HE DID. WE CONTINUED TO TAXI AND 'KEPT MOVING' ON TXWY T; AND THE GND CTLR GAVE US A NEW RTE ON TXWY T TO TXWY M TO TXWY M2 THEN TO THE GATE. NOTHING WAS EVER MENTIONED BY THE GND CTLR AS TO WHY WE CONTINUED ON TXWY T AS OPPOSED TO TXWY B. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WOULD INCLUDE ONLY 1 PLT ON THE FREQ WHEN RTE (TAXI) WAS ISSUED AND NOT HAVING PROPER GATE INFO BEFORE LNDG.
