F100 CAPT BECAME AWARE A FLT ATTENDANT ON HIS CREW WAS ILL WITH FOOD POISONING AND HAD LOST CONSCIOUSNESS IN HER HOTEL ROOM. CAPT HAD FLT ATTENDANT REMOVED AND PLACED ON SICK LEAVE.
CAPT'S REMOVAL OF A FLT ATTENDANT DUE TO HEALTH REASONS. THIS RPT IS SUBMITTED TO DOCUMENT IN WRITING WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DETAILED BY PHONE WITH FLT ATTENDANT'S SUPVR AND DOMICILE CHIEF PLT. AT EARLY AM HOTEL PICKUP; FLT ATTENDANT X INFORMED ME THAT SHE HAD BEEN UP MOST OF THE NIGHT WITH APPARENT FOOD POISONING AND HAD WOKEN UP ON THE BATHROOM FLOOR WITH A KNOT ON HER UPPER FOREHEAD. I WAS OBVIOUSLY CONCERNED BOTH FOR HER HEALTH AND ALSO HER ABILITY TO PERFORM HER DUTIES. AFTER EXTENSIVE QUESTIONING; SHE APPEARED TO BE ABLE TO PERFORM HER JOB AND STRONGLY DESIRED TO DO SO. WE DEPARTED ZZZ1-ZZZ AND AT CRUISE ALT; I AGAIN TALKED TO HER. SHE EXPRESSED A DESIRE TO CONTINUE WITH THE WORK DAY; BUT DECIDED TO CALL IN SICK AFTER I EXPRESSED MY RESERVATIONS. I THEN INFORMED DISPATCH VIA ACARS THAT SHE WAS CALLING IN SICK. UPON LNDG; SHE CHANGED HER MIND AND DECIDED THAT SHE FELT WELL ENOUGH TO CONTINUE THE TRIP. AT THIS TIME; I DECIDED TO REMOVE HER FROM THE TRIP AS I DID NOT HAVE 100% CONFIDENCE IN HER ABILITIES TO HANDLE ANY SAFETY OR SECURITY RELATED ISSUES THAT MIGHT ARISE DURING THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY. I ALSO INFORMED HER SUPVR THAT I FELT SHE SHOULD BE EXAMINED BY MEDICAL AND POSSIBLY SUBMIT INJURY ON DUTY PAPERWORK. FLT ATTENDANT X WAS A PLEASURE TO WORK WITH AND AT NO TIME DID SHE ARGUE WITH ME EVEN THOUGH SHE DISAGREED WITH ME. SHE WAS PROFESSIONAL AT ALL TIMES AND PERFORMED HER DUTIES WELL. THIS WAS MY DECISION AS THE CAPT AND NO NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES SHOULD BE PLACED UPON HER.
