A C152 PLT; ON A VFR FLT; BECAME DISORIENTATED WHEN ENCOUNTERING WX ENRTE; LNDG AT A CLASS D ARPT UNANNOUNCED.
VFR FLT CLW-X01-MTH-EYW-MTH-X01-CLW. WX BRIEFING OBTAINED 1 1/2 HRS BEFORE TKOF CLW. ON WAY BACK; REFUELED AT X01; BAD WX SHOWED UP IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF LA BELLE-CHARLOTTE (PGD) AND IT WAS BECOMING DARK. THERE WAS A STRONG NW HEADWIND WE DEALT WITH ALL THE WAY BACK. THE WX (SHOWERS) FORCED ME TO DSND TO +/-1000 FT; AND I CONCENTRATED ON DIVERTING THE SHOWERS; BUT ALWAYS ON A HEADING BTWN W AND N; TRYING TO MAINTAIN GND REFS. FINALLY WE BROKE THROUGH THE WX. WE THOUGHT WE HAD THE TAMPA BAY AREA ON OUR NW SIDE. WE REFED TO THE HIGH RADIO MAST; AND THE CONGESTED AREA OF BRADENTON. I DECIDED TO STAY UNDER 1200 FT BECAUSE OF THE CLASS C OF BRADENTON; AND NOT TO FLY ABOVE CONGESTED AREA. WHEN PASSING THE HIGH MAST WE THOUGHT WE FOUND THE ROTATING BEACON OF WHITTED (SPG) AND HEADED TO THIS BEACON. THIS IS WHERE I STARTED MAKING CALLS TO SPG TWR AND ST PETERSBURG TWR TO VERIFY MY LOCATION BUT DIDN'T SUCCEED IN MAKING CONTACT. WE PASSED THE ARPT; TURNED OVER THE WATER; HERE IS WHERE I DECIDED I LOST THE WAY. SINCE WE WERE RUNNING OUT OF FUEL; I RETURNED TO THE ARPT WE PASSED; MADE SURE THERE WASN'T ANY TFC IN THE PATTERN/RWY; AND LANDED. IT SHOWED UP IT WAS SFB. ON RTE I MAY HAVE TOUCHED THE BOTTOM-LINE OF CLASS B AIRSPACE; I ENTERED CLASS D WITHOUT 2-WAY RADIO CONTACT. ALL THE TIME WE HANDLED WITH CARE; DIDN'T PANIC; STAYED OUT OF CONGESTED AREA; AND TRIED TO STAY OUT OF AIRSPACES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
