A LEAR 45 FLC DIVERTS TO IND WHEN THEIR R MAIN LNDG GEAR REFUSES TO RETRACT AFTER BEING DAMAGED BY GND INCIDENT ON A PRIOR TKOF ATTEMPT FROM MDW; IL.
AFTER A LOW SPD ABORTED TKOF; WE RETURNED TO THE FBO WHERE WE HAD BOARDED THE AIRPLANE. BOTH PLTS DISCUSSED THE ABORT AND AGREED THAT NO RWY LIGHTS OR ANYTHING ELSE HAD BEEN STRUCK. THE AIRPLANE WAS INSPECTED BY THE PNF AND NO EVIDENCE OF DAMAGE WAS FOUND. BOTH PLTS WERE CONFIDENT THE AIRPLANE WAS SAFE FOR FLT AND THE AIRPLANE RETURNED TO THE SAME RWY FOR DEP. AFTER TKOF WHEN THE LNDG GEAR WAS SELECTED UP; THE R MAIN GEAR DOOR LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE LNDG GEAR WAS CYCLED DOWN THEN UP WITH THE SAME RESULTS. AFTER CONSULTING COMPANY VIA AIR PHONE; ATC WAS INFORMED WE WOULD BE DIVERTING TO INDIANAPOLIS. NO EMER WAS DECLARED. DURING APCH TO IND; ALL GEAR DOWN INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL AND A NORMAL LNDG WAS COMPLETED. POSTFLT INSPECTION REVEALED DAMAGE TO THE R MAIN GEAR DOOR. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS TO THE CAUSE MIGHT INCLUDE: 1) NOT WANTING TO ADMIT A POSSIBLE MISTAKE. 2) THE DESIRE TO COMPLETE THE FLT. THE BEST SOLUTION TO AVOID SUCH A SIT WOULD HAVE BEEN TO HAVE A QUALIFIED MECH MAKE A DECISION CONCERNING THE CONDITION OF THE AIRPLANE. WITH ANY DOUBT HAVE A MECH MAKE AN INSPECTION.
