Synopsis

AN EMBRAER 145 ON TAXI WHEN SELECTING FLAPS 9 DEGS GOT MULTIPLE EICAS WARNINGS AND UNCOMMANDED NOSEWHEEL MOVEMENTS.

Narrative

UPON SELECTION OF FLAPS 9 DEGS; MULTIPLE FAILURES WERE INDICATED ON THE EICAS DISPLAY (FLAPS LOW SPD; SPS ADVANCED; SPS #1 AND #2 INOP). WHAT CONCERNS ME IS THE MOVEMENT OF THE NOSEWHEEL -- UNCOMMANDED. THIS OCCURRED TWICE BEFORE THE NOSEWHEEL STEERING WAS DESELECTED. THE INDICATIONS OF THE EICAS WERE CORRECTED PER MAINT INSTRUCTIONS AND THE FLT COMPLETED WITHOUT FURTHER PROB. PROB: UNCOMMANDED NOSEWHEEL MOVEMENT. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED WHILE TAXIING; THE FLAPS WERE SELECTED TO 9 UNITS AND IMMEDIATELY GOT EICAS DISPLAY WARNINGS. THE RPTR SAID FLAPS LOW SPD; STALL PROTECTION SYS; AND STALL PROTECTION SYS #1 AND #2 ALL WERE ON THE DISPLAY. THE RPTR STATED AT THIS TIME THAT THE NOSE GEAR WHEELS MADE UNCOMMANDED MOVEMENTS AND THE NOSEWHEEL STEERING WAS DESELECTED. THE RPTR SAID THE AIRPLANE WAS STOPPED AND THE MAINT CTLR CONTACTED AND ADVISED OF THE PROB. THE RPTR STATED THE CTLR REQUESTED PULLING AND RESETTING SEVERAL CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND THIS RETURNED THE SYS TO NORMAL OP WITH NO EICAS WARNINGS. THE RPTR SAID THE NOSE STEERING WAS NORMAL DURING THE TAXI AND TKOF.
