Synopsis

ARTCC RADAR CTLR DID NOT RELAY A TURB PIREP TO AN ENRTE FLT IN SMOOTH AIR.

Narrative

BEFORE LEAVING RNO WE KNEW THAT THERE WAS A CHANCE OF LIGHT CHOP THE ENTIRE RTE. SO FROM THE TOP OF CLB; EVERY TIME WE CHKED IN WITH A NEW CTLR WE RPTED OUR SMOOTH RIDE AND ASKED FOR RPTS AHEAD. THE FLT WAS VERY SMOOTH AND WE WERE S OF THE AREA OF MODERATE CHOP BEING RPTED OVER THE CENTRAL COLORADO ROCKIES. WHEN WE CHKED IN WITH ZAB NEAR LVS; NEW MEXICO; WE RPTED OUR SMOOTH RIDE; BUT DIDN'T SPECIFICALLY ASK FOR A RPT; THOUGH WE ASSUMED IF THERE WERE RPTS OF OTHER THAN SMOOTH; THE CTLR WOULD PASS THEM ON TO US. AFTER WE ENTERED MODERATE TURB AND REQUESTED A DSCNT; AFTER SEATING THE FLT ATTENDANTS; ETC; WHEN OTHER ACFT BEHIND US RPTED MODERATE AS WELL; THE CTLR RESPONDED TO THEM; YES; THAT'S WHAT OTHER FLTS ARE RPTING. AFTER WE FOUND THE SMOOTH AIR AT FL290 I ASKED THE CTLR IF OURS WAS THE FIRST RPT OF MODERATE THAT THEY HAD RECEIVED; THEY RESPONDED NO. I SAID SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT THAT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE BEEN WARNED. THE CTLR RESPONDED THAT THEY WERE NOT PASSING THE INFO UP THE LINE. THE POINT OF THIS SUBMISSION IS TO HELP FIND WHAT CAUSED THE RPTS NOT TO BE PASSED ON. WAS THE CTLR HAVING TO WORK 3 FREQS AT THE SAME TIME; PERHAPS THE OTHER ACFT WEREN'T STRESSING THEIR CONDITIONS CLRLY ENOUGH; HAD A SHIFT CHANGE JUST OCCURRED AND THE MODERATE WAS NOT IN THE HAND-OVER BRIEFING; ETC.
