Synopsis

AN AIRBUS 319 AT 5000 FT EXPERIENCED A DUAL FAILURE OF THE FLT CTL UNITS. LOSS OF AUTOPLT AUTOTHROTTLE; FLT DIRECTORS AND SELECTED FUNCTIONS.

Narrative

AFTER TKOF IN CLB AT 5000 FT MSL; LOST AUTOPLT; AUTO THRUST. ECAM ANNOUNCED DUAL FCU FAILURE (FCU 1+2). GAVE CTL TO FO AS I HAD LOST PRIMARY ALTIMETER WHILE HE HAD HIS. CAPT (ME) COMPLETED ECAM AND COCKPIT MANUAL PROCEDURES. ACFT WAS INITIALLY LEVELED AT 10000 FT WITH ZZZ CENTER. SHORTLY CLBED TO 14000 FOR RADIO CONTACT DISPATCH AND MX CTL. DECIDED TO GO TO ZZZ INSTEAD OF ZZZ1 WX WAS VFR AT ZZZ (SNOW AT ZZZ1) ZZZ HAD PARTS TO FIX PROB. DID NOT DECLARE EMER BUT CENTER DID PROVIDE VECTORS. NAVIGATION WAS DEGRADED. FO WAS UNABLE TO DISPLAY VOR COURSE ARROW/CDI. CAPT WAS ABLE TO. AUTO TUNE FEATURE SEEMED NOT TO WORK. COULD MANUALLY TUNE VIA STBY NAV AND RAD/NAV PAGE. VECTORS TO ZZZ AND ILS WITH UNEVENTFUL LNDG. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED WHEN THE DUAL FAILURE OCCURRED THE CAPT SWITCHED CTL TO THE FO DUE TO FAILURE OF THE CAPTS ALTIMETER TAPE. THE RPTR SAID THE CAPT AND FO LOST THE AUTOPLT; FLT DIRECTOR; AUTOTHROTTLE AND ALL SELECTED FUNCTIONS ON THE FLT CTL PANEL. THE RPTR STATED IN ADDITION THE AUTO TUNE FUNCTION WAS LOST BUT NAVIGATION STATIONS COULD BE TUNED MANUALLY. THE RPTR SAID NAVIGATION WAS DOWNGRADED AND THE FO WAS UNABLE TO DISPLAY VOR COURSE ARROW ON THE COURSE DEVIATION INDICATOR. THE RPTR STATED ON ARR AT ZZZ MAINT REPLACED #1 AND #2 FLT CTL COMPUTER AND SELF TESTED OK.
