PIPER SEMINOLE; PA44; PLT INADVERTENTLY FORGOT TO PUT THE LNDG GEAR DOWN.
I TOOK OFF OUT OF DEER VALLEY ARPT (MYSELF AND 1 FRIEND) AND PROCEEDED SBOUND TO DO A PRACTICE APCH INTO SCOTTSDALE (VOR A). I WAS VECTORED BY PHX APCH AND CLRED FOR THE APCH. DURING THE APCH; I PROCEEDED TO DO THE CIRCLE-TO-LAND AND I DID A TOUCH-AND-GO. AFTER THE TOUCH-AND-GO; I WENT NBOUND TO THE PRACTICE AREA AND DID A COUPLE STEEP TURNS AND THEN I STARTED TO SET UP TO DO ANOTHER PRACTICE APCH AND THIS ONE WAS BACK INTO DEER VALLEY (GPS RWY 7R). DURING THE APCH; TWR ADVISED ME TO RPT CEGAP. WHILE INBOUND TO CEGAP; I DID MY BEFORE LNDG CHKLIST UP TO THE GEAR DOWN SINCE THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE ME BREAK OFF THE APCH. AT CEGAP; THEY TOLD ME TO BREAK OFF THE APCH AND PROCEED TO ENTER THE DOWNWIND FOR RWY 25R. WHILE I WAS ON DOWNWIND; TWR ADVISED ME OF TFC THAT TURNED AN EARLY XWIND TO ENTER THE DOWNWIND IN FRONT OF ME. IN THE PROCESS OF LOOKING FOR THIS TFC AND KEEPING MY SEPARATION; I MISSED THE REST OF MY CHKLIST. DURING FINAL WHILE I HAD THE PWR BACK; I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INDICATION FROM THE WARNING HORN OR LIGHT THAT THE GEAR WAS NOT DOWN. BY THE TIME I REALIZED THAT THE GEAR WASN'T DOWN IT WAS TOO LATE AND I COULDN'T INITIATE A GAR. THE PLANE STRUCK THE GND AND I DID WHAT I COULD TO MAINTAIN CTL. ONCE THE ACFT STOPPED; I SECURED THE ACFT AND EXITED TO THE REAR. I BELIEVE THE PROB WAS THAT I MYSELF WAS FOCUSING TOO MUCH ON TRYING TO FIND THE ACFT AHEAD AND KEEPING PROPER SEPARATION. I WAS LOOKING TOO MUCH OUTSIDE THE ACFT WHEN I SHOULD HAVE BEEN DIVIDING MY ATTN BTWN BOTH OUTSIDE AND INSIDE. IN THE FUTURE; TO PREVENT THIS FROM OCCURRING; I WILL BE SURE TO FOCUS MY ATTN EVENLY AND DOUBLECHK AND EVEN TRIPLECHK THE CHKLIST. DEER VALLEY IS A TRAINING ENVIRONMENT AND I THINK THAT IN THE FUTURE IT WOULD BE A GOOD HABIT TO TEACH YOUR STUDENTS TO WATCH FOR POTENTIAL PROBS IN THE PATTERN WHILE THEY ARE HOLDING SHORT. SINCE THERE WERE 5 ACFT HOLDING SHORT OF THE RWY AND NOT 1 PERSON SPOKE UP AND MENTIONED ANYTHING TO TWR; I HAVE TALKED TO SOME PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN IN SIMILAR SITS AND THEY SAID MOST STUDENTS AREN'T TAUGHT TO SPEAK UP WHEN SOMETHING DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT. IN THESE SITS; I THINK IT WOULD HELP SIGNIFICANTLY.
