CRJ CREW INADVERTENTLY LANDS ON TXWY AT ATL.
AFTER HOLDING AT RIPPI AND BEING CLRED FOR THE APCH; WE WERE CLRED TO LAND ON RWY 27L AT ATL 4-5 MI BEHIND AN ACR HVY. WE CALLED THE ACFT IN SIGHT AND WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL APCH. A DECISION WAS MADE TO FLY ABOVE THE GS FOR WAKE TURB AND TO THE SIDE OF THE LOC. IN THE VICINITY OF DEPOT; THE AUTOPLT WAS SELECTED OFF AND THE ACFT WAS HAND FLOWN TO COMPLETION. LIGHT RAIN BEGAN ON SHORT FINAL. UPON TRANSITIONING FROM INSTS TO A VISUAL; AN INADVERTENT LNDG OCCURRED ON TXWY R. AN INITIAL ATTEMPT TO GO AROUND WAS MADE; BUT WAS ABORTED AT TOUCHDOWN BY THE CAPT. WE TAXIED ACROSS RWY 27L AT N2 AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 27R AT TXWY T. WE WERE CLRED TO CROSS RWY 27R AND PROCEEDED TO THE GATE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENTS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 552584: INSIDE THE MARKER; I NOTICED SOME DRIZZLE ON THE WINDSHIELD. WE WERE CLRED TO LAND RWY 27L. ON VERY SHORT FINAL; I REALIZED THAT WE WERE LINED UP ON TXWY R. I CALLED FOR A GAR. THE FO ADVANCED THE PWR LEVERS BUT BEFORE THE ENGS COULD SPOOL UP WE LANDED ON TXWY R. THE TXWY WAS CLR OF OBSTRUCTIONS AND I ELECTED TO ABORT THE GAR AND STOP ON TXWY R. WE CROSSED RWY 27L AT TXWY R3. AFTER CHKING TO SEE WHERE THE LNDG TFC BEHIND US WAS; AND JUDGING THAT I COULD DO SO SAFELY; I ELECTED TO CROSS RWY 27L IN ORDER TO GET TO TXWY N2. THE TWR SENT THE TFC BEHIND US AROUND DUE TO TFC (US) ON THE RWY.
