Synopsis

A CONVAIR 640 ON MAX PWR ENG RUN CHK; HAD AN OVERTEMP WARNING LIGHT FOR THE LENG. MGMNT DID NOT ALLOW THE ITEM TO BE WRITTEN UP FOR IMMEDIATE CORRECTION.

Narrative

MYSELF; THE CHIEF PLT; AND TECHNICIAN WITNESSED AN ENG OVERTEMP LIGHT WHILE PERFORMING AN ENG THRUST RUN AT MAX PWR. THE CHIEF PLT WAS AT THE CTLS AND ALL 3 OF US WITNESSED THE ILLUMINATION OF THE OVERTEMP LIGHT ON THE L ENG OF ACFT. I WAS ASKED BY THE CHIEF PLT IF THE FLCS WOULD WITNESS AN OVERTEMP LIGHT UNDER FLT CONDITIONS WITH WATER AUGMENTATION. I TOLD HIM PROBABLY NOT; AND HE INSTRUCTED ME TO NOT WRITE IT UP BECAUSE HE NEEDED THE ACFT ON LINE. IT WAS NOT WRITTEN UP. I WAS TOLD TO RELEASE THE ACFT AND; AS OF AUG/FRI/02; THE ACFT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. IT IS STILL FLYING; AND THE CONDITION IS NOT ENTERED IN THE ACFT LOGBOOK. THE DIRECTOR OF MAINT WAS TOLD BY ME; WITNESSED BY TECHNICIAN; THAT THE OUTSIDE AIR TEMP CANNON PLUG WAS BROKEN AND HAD BEEN LATCHED TOGETHER WITH .025 SAFETY WIRE. IT WAS NOT WRITTEN UP OR CORRECTED UNTIL AUG/THU/02 BY TECHNICIAN. BOTH MYSELF AND TECHNICIAN WERE TOLD NOT TO WRITE IT UP BECAUSE WE HAD NO PARTS AND THAT IT WOULD GND THE ACFT. ADVISED GENERAL MGR; DIRECTOR OF MAINT; DIRECTOR OF OPS OF ENG OVERTEMP ISSUE ON L ENG. WAS TOLD TO IGNORE IT; STILL NOT IN ACFT LOGBOOK. ADVISED DIRECTOR OF MAINT OF PENDING FAILURE OF HYD PUMP ON R ENG ON ACFT. NO PUMP IN ZZZ; WAS TOLD NOT TO WRITE IT UP. ADVISED DIRECTOR OF OPS OF NOW DANGEROUS CONDITION ON ACFT OVERTEMP PROBS ON L ENG AND BAD HYD PUMP ON R ENG. WAS IGNORED. STILL NOT WRITTEN UP; STILL NOT REPAIRED.
