Synopsis

E145 CREW HAD AN EICAS WARNING '2 BLEED LEAK' ON CLBOUT IN ZOB CLASS A AIRSPACE.

Narrative

BLEED LEAK INFLT. PASSING THROUGH FL300 WITH AN ASSIGNED SPD OF .74 MACH; WE RECEIVED A BLEED LEAK INDICATION ON THE EICAS. WE INITIATED EMER PROCS FOLLOWED WITH THE MANUAL RECOMMENDED PROC AND THEN DSNDED TO FL240 HOPING TO CONTINUE TO ORD. WHEN THROTTLE WAS ADVANCED; BLEED LEAK INDICATION CAME BACK ON EICAS. WE HAD ALREADY CONTACTED ACR AND MAINT CTL AND SO CALLED THEM AGAIN; TELLING THEM OF THE CONTINUING PROB; THEN ADVISED THEM WE WOULD DIVERT TO GRR. WE USED THE CHKLIST AS A PRECAUTION; AND WITH THE FLT ATTENDANT AND PAX BRIEFED; ATC NOTIFIED OF INTENTIONS; AND EMER EQUIP STANDING BY; MADE A NORMAL LNDG. PAX WERE TAKEN OFF VIA JETBRIDGE WITH NO ONE INJURED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 558187: CAPT CONTACTED ACR AND MAINT CTL EXPLAINED PROB. ASKED FOR SUGGESTIONS. MEANWHILE; WE DSNDED TO FL240. AFTER LEVELING; I ADVANCED THRUST LEVERS AND BLEED LEAK REAPPEARED. CAPT CONTACTED ACR AND MAINT CTL AGAIN. DISCUSSED PROB. MAINT CTL SUPVR CAME ON LINE AND SUGGESTED THAT THIS WAS NOT AN EMER. CAPT EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS AN EMER; AND THAT WE WERE DIVERTING TO GRR. AS A PRECAUTION; #2 ENG WAS LEFT AT IDLE AND WE USED SINGLE ENG PROCS.
