Synopsis

A CARJ CREW; AFTER LNDG AT HOU; CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE OF A RWY THEY WERE TO HOLD SHORT OF.

Narrative

I WAS INVOLVED IN A RWY INCURSION AT HOU. I WAS FLYING A CITATION ULTRA; AND CLRED TO LAND RWY 12R. WE LANDED AND ROLLED OUT TO EXIT AT TXWY Q. WE CONTACTED GND AND ADVISED WE WOULD BE PARKING AT FBO WHICH IS LOCATED AT THE SE RAMP. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO TAXI VIA TXWY N; TXWY L; AND TXWY J; HOLD SHORT OF RWY 22 FOR DEPARTING TFC. WE DID SO AND HELD SHORT OF RWY 22. WE WERE THEN CLRED TO CROSS RWY 22 AND TXWY H2 TO TXWY H AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17. THE FO READ BACK THE INSTRUCTIONS AND WE PROCEEDED. AS WE APCHED THE HOLD SHORT LINE AT TXWY H AND RWY 17; THE FO REALIZED THAT I WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN AND REMINDED ME THAT WE WERE GIVEN HOLD SHORT INSTRUCTIONS. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AT THE SAME TIME THAT GND CTL SAID 'ACFT X; STOP.' WE WERE ALREADY INSIDE THE HOLD SHORT LINE AT THIS TIME. UNKNOWN TO US; A HAWKER HAD BEEN CLRED TO LAND RWY 17 AND WAS TOLD TO GO AROUND. THE GND CTLR THEN ADVISED US TO CONTINUE TO PARKING AND CALL TWR UPON ARR AT THE FBO. I CONTACTED THE TWR WITH MANY APOLOGIES. THE CTLR EXPLAINED THAT HOU OFTEN LANDS AND DEPARTS EVERY RWY SURFACE; EVEN THOUGH A PARTICULAR SURFACE MAY NOT BE INCLUDED ON THE ATIS. HE DID NOT WANT TO TAKE TIME TO FILE ALL OF THE REQUIRED PAPERWORK TO WRITE ME UP. HE HOPED THIS WOULD SERVE AS AN UNFORGETTABLE LEARNING EXPERIENCE. I THANKED HIM FOR HIS TIME AND PATIENCE. 1) I HAD ALREADY HELD SHORT OF RWY 22; 2) FAILED TO UNDERSTAND AND COMPLY WITH SECOND SET OF INSTRUCTIONS; 3) I WAS MENTALLY FOCUSED ON LOOKING FOR THE FBO; NOT ANOTHER HOLD SHORT LINE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 558597: WERE CLRED TO CROSS RWY 22; AND GIVEN CLRNC TO CONTINUE TO TAXI VIA TXWY H2; TXWY H; AND TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17. ONCE AGAIN; THE CLRNC WAS READ BACK CORRECTLY TO GND. UPON REACHING THE HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 17 AND REALIZING WE WERE NOT GOING TO STOP; I INFORMED THE CAPT THAT OUR CLRNC WAS TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17.
