RWY INCURSION BY A BE1900 FLC CREATES A POTENTIAL GND CONFLICT WITH A LIGHT GA ACFT ON A 3 MI FINAL AT SAF; NM.
THIS EVENT HAPPENED AT SANTA FE; NM; ARPT. I WS THE CAPT OF THE PLANE. MY FO ASKED FOR A TAXI CLRNC AND WE WERE CLRED TO TAXI AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 15 FROM THE TERMINAL AT THE SAME TIME WE WERE ISSUED THE CLRNC BACK TO OUR DEST (DEN). I BEGAN THE TAXI TO RWY 15 AND ASKED FOR THE PRETKOF CHKLIST WHICH WAS COMPLETED BEFORE WE GOT TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE. I UNFORTUNATELY CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE UP TO PROBABLY THE MAIN LNDG GEAR AND MAYBE MORE. MY FO; WHO ALSO WAS A QUALIFIED CAPT BUT FLYING THE R SEAT THAT DAY; TOLD ME TO STOP AND AT THE SAME TIME STEPPED ON THE BRAKES. HE IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE INITIATIVE TO TELL GND CTL THAT WE HAD CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE; APOLOGIZED AND ASKED WHAT THE CTLR WANTED US TO DO. THERE WAS A SINGLE ENG ACFT ON ABOUT A 3 OR 4 MI FINAL SO THE CTLR INSTRUCTED THAT ACFT TO GO AROUND BECAUSE WE HAD CROSSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THE GAR WAS EXECUTED BY THAT PLT. MY FO AGAIN APOLOGIZED; THE CTLR DID NOT SAY ANYTHING. WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD AND SHORTLY AFTER CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 15. I HAD IN MY MIND UNDERSTOOD TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD RWY 15 WHEN WE WERE INSTRUCTED FROM THE TERMINAL. IT WAS ENTIRELY MY MISTAKE THAT LED TO THIS EMBARRASSING SIT THAT COULD HAVE EASILY TURNED INTO A DISASTER. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE FLYING WITH MY PARTNER WHO TOOK IMMEDIATE ACTION AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKES. I COULDN'T STOP THANKING HIM FOR IT.
