TXWY INCURSION BY A B757 FLC DURING TAXI AFTER LNDG AT EWR; NJ.

Narrative

ACFT WAS STOPPED ON TXWY N SHORT OF TXWY B. GND CTL CLRED FLT TO 'WAIT FOR ANOTHER ACFT; THEN TAXI TXWY A TO THE RAMP.' AFTER TFC CLRED; THE CAPT BEGAN TO TAXI AND I STARTED TO 'CLEAN UP' THE ACFT TO COMMENCE THE AFTER LNDG CHKLIST. AFTER CHKLIST COMPLETION; I TOLD THE CAPT I WAS GOING TO CONTACT RAMP CTL. HE ACKNOWLEDGED. DISCUSSION WITH RAMP INDICATED; AFTER BRIEF PAUSE; THAT GATE WAS OCCUPIED BUT WOULD 'PUSH' AT XA55 AND TO HOLD AT TXWY RH FOR GATE. AFTER THAT; I WENT TO TURN VOLUME UP ON GND FREQ AND FROM THE LOOK ON THE CAPT'S FACE; A RADIO CALL HAD BEEN TO US. I TOLD CAPT I DID NOT HEAR IT. CAPT ACKNOWLEDGED AND TURNED ONTO TXWY F FROM TXWY B; THEN STOPPED THE ACFT SHORT OF RWY 22R. GND CALLED. I ACKNOWLEDGED HOLDING POS. MOMENTS LATER; WE WERE CLRED ONTO RWY 22R; TURN L AT TXWY G; TXWY A TO THE RAMP. ACFT WAS TAXIED FROM TXWY B ONTO TXWY F AND WAS STOPPED ACROSS HOLD LINE PRIOR TO RWY. I NEGLECTED TO MONITOR THE CONTINUATION OF TAXI BY CAPT WHILE PERFORMING THE AFTER LNDG DUTIES; FLOW; CHKLIST; AND RAMP CTL CONTACT. I ASSUMED THE CAPT WOULD TURN ONTO TXWY A AND NOT TXWY B BECAUSE OF MY COMFORT WITH THE EXPERIENCE LEVEL OF THE CREW; AND THE NORMALCY OF THE SIT. GREATER ATTN TO TAXI; ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNS ONTO SUBSEQUENT TXWYS ARE EXPECTED. VERBALIZE TURNS WHEN OTHER CREW MEMBER BUSY WITH 'INSIDE THE COCKPIT' DUTIES. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 562109: LANDED ON RWY 22L EWR. AFTER XING RWY 22R; FLT WAS INSTRUCTED BY GND CTL TO GIVE WAY TO ACR Y AND TAXI TO THE GATE. INSTEAD OF TAKING THE 1/2 R TURN AND CONTINUING ON TXWY V TO TXWY A TO THE GATE; I TURNED R ONTO TXWY B. BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS ON THE 'INNER' TXWY; I TURNED RIGHT TOWARDS WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE OTHER TXWY. IN FRONT OF ME WAS RWY 22R; NOT THE OTHER TXWY. I STOPPED IMMEDIATELY SHORT OF THE RWY. MY DISORIENTATION WAS CAUSED IN PART BY COMPLACENCY; OTHER RADIO COMS ABOUT AN OCCUPIED GATE; AFTER LNDG PROCS; AND A LATE AFTERNOON BLOOD SUGAR LOW 'SINKER.'
