Synopsis

MD80 CREW TRACK DEV FROM JFK PUBLISHED DEP.

Narrative

WE WERE GIVEN THE BREEZY POINT DEP. WE BRIEFED TO FLY IT ON THE VOR. THERE WAS A LOT OF CONFUSION TAXIING -- GETTING WRONG INSTRUCTIONS FROM GND; WHICH WE RESOLVED. APCHING RWY 2 FOR TKOF; WE WERE GIVEN UNEXPECTED TKOF CLRNC. I WAS A LITTLE RUSHED AND DID NOT REVIEW THE DEP. I TOOK OFF AND FLEW TO CRI; THEN SAW A PINK LINE ON THE NAV DISPLAY; AND I ASSUMED IT WAS THE OUTBOUND RADIAL ON THE DEP. IT WAS DIRECT TO RBV. LATER DEP DIRECTED US TO TURN TO INTERCEPT 221 DEG RADIAL OUTBOUND. FO HAD LOADED GFMS AND DID NOT LEAVE A DISCONTINUITY FOR THE RADIAL AND VECTORS. I ASSUMED THAT THE COURSE WAS IN THE BOX LIKE ON OTHER ARRS AND DEPS. I DID NOT CATCH IT ON THE GFMS REVIEW OF LEGS PAGE. WE WERE IN A HURRY TURNING; BECAUSE I WAS DEALING WITH DISPATCH OVER BEING SHORT ON FUEL. A LOT OF LITTLE THINGS ADDED UP; AND I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN. FO WAS PUSHING TO GET GOING. I FINALLY SETTLED HER DOWN; BUT THERE WAS TENSION IN THE COCKPIT. SHE SAID SHE SAW THE ERROR; BUT THOUGHT I KNEW WHAT WAS GOING ON; AND DID NOT SPEAK UP.
