Synopsis

A320 FLT CREW HAS INTERMITTENT ECAM COMPRESSOR VANE WARNING.

Narrative

ON TKOF FROM ORD; 'COMPRESSOR VANE' ECAM CAME ON AT ABOUT 90 KTS AND STAYED ON UNTIL RIGHT AFTER TKOF. THEN ECAM WENT OUT. ALL ENG INDICATIONS NORMAL. WE CONTINUED ON TO DSM. ON ROLLOUT; SAME ECAM CAME ON AGAIN AND STAYED ON. UPON ARR AT THE GATE; WE CALLED. WE DECIDED TO CONTINUE ON TO DSM; BECAUSE THE ECAM WENT OUT RIGHT AFTER TKOF; AND BECAUSE ALL ENG INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL. THOUGH THE CHKLIST SAYS TO LAND; THE ECAM DOESN'T. WE DID NOT WANT TO RETURN TO ORD; BECAUSE OF THE HIGH GUSTY WINDS AND BECAUSE THE ECAM SAID TO AVOID RAPID THROTTLE MOVEMENTS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 574642: DURING TKOF ROLL; NO ABNORMAL ENG PARAMETERS; SURGES; OR STALLS. MONITORED ENG PARAMETERS AND NOTED HIGH N1 VIBRATIONS (3.2) ON ENG #2. THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS ENG #2 ECAM (NOT ENG #1). AFTER CRITICAL PHASE OF FLT; REFERRED TO FLT MANUAL. AFTER A FEW MINS OF SEARCHING (PROC IS INDEXED WRONG IN FM) FOUND REF TO ECAM. NOTICED 'LAND AT NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT' (NOT INDICATED ON ECAM). ELECTED TO CONTINUE TO DSM. ALSO NOTED 'AVOID THE CHANGES' AS A CONSIDERATION. CONTACTED MAINT CTL AND ENTERED WRITE-UP IN ACFT LOGBOOK.
