Synopsis

A B737-200 UNDERGOING A FUSELAGE STRINGER REPAIR WAS WORKED FOR 6 SHIFTS WITH NO PROGRESSIVE SIGNOFFS ON WORK ACCOMPLISHED.

Narrative

RECEIVED A TURNOVER FROM A MECH ON SECOND SHIFT FOR REPAIR IN THE FORWARD CARGO BAY. 2 SHIFTS HAD WORKED THE REPAIR. THE TURNOVER WAS PREDRILLED PARTS THAT NEEDED TO BE TRIMMED AND DRILLED TO FULL SIZE. I TRIMMED THE PARTS AND DRILLED THEM UP TO SIZE; ALODINED THE PARTS AND PRIMED THE PARTS; AND THEN STARTED TO INSTALL THEM. DURING THE RUSH; I FORGOT TO GET AN INSPECTOR TO INSPECT THE PARTS THAT I HAD ALREADY BEGAN TO INSTALL. DURING MY TURNOVER; DAY SHIFT; I REALIZED THAT NONE OF THE PAPERWORK FOR THE REPAIR HAD BEEN DONE. IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTN BY THE DAY SHIFT MECHS. I BELIEVE THAT THE COMPANY NEEDS TO SPEND MORE TIME ON THE PAPERWORK PROCS FOR ACR X AIRLINES WITH ITS NEW MECHS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 576577: I NOTICED THAT THE STRINGER REPAIR HAD BEEN PARTLY INSTALLED; BUT HAD NO SIGNOFFS FOR DAMAGE REMOVAL OR TREAT AND PRIME. THE PARTS WERE MADE AND DRILLED (FABRICATED) WITHOUT ANY SIGNOFF EITHER. I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE WERE NO SIGNOFFS. WHEN I CONFRONTED MY TURNOVER GUY; HE SAID THAT WAS THE WAY HE WAS TOLD TO DO IT IN THE NEW HIRE TRAINING CLASS. I HAD TO REMOVE THE REPAIR AND CLEAN UP THE PARTS AND GET THE DAMAGE REMOVAL SIGNOFF.
