LOW TIME GA PLT INCORRECTLY ASSUMES THAT N90 INSTRUCTION TO REMAIN CLR OF ADIZ WAS APPROVED TO CONTINUE ON COURSE TO DEST.

Narrative

I WAS FLYING ON A SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLT; AS PART OF MY TRAINING FOR MY PLTS LICENSE. THE TRIP WAS PLANNED AND FILED AS TWO SEPARATE FLTS; DUE TO THE ADIZ RESTRICTIONS AROUND THE NYC AREA. THE FIRST WAS FROM TEB TO MSV; THE SECOND WAS FROM MSV TO TEB. AS I WAS RETURNING TO TEB FROM MSV; I CONTACTED NY APCH AT APPROX XA20L; JUST AS I WAS PASSING OVER HYO VOR. I REPORTED MY POSITION; ALT; AND DEST AS WELL AS SAYING 'AS FILED' AT THE END OF MY RADIO CALL. HE ACKNOWLEDGED ME AFTER I CALLED A SECOND TIME BY SAYING 'ACFT X REMAIN CLR OF THE RESTR AIRSPACE AND MAINTAIN RADIO SILENCE.' BECAUSE HE DID ACKNOWLEDGE ME; I UNDERSTOOD I WAS CLRED TO PROCEED; BUT THAT I NEEDED TO KEEP CLR OF THE OVERLYING CLASS B OVER TEB AND CLASS D AROUND TEB AND OTHER ARPTS NEARBY. I ALSO THOUGHT THAT BECAUSE HE SAID TO MAINTAIN RADIO SILENCE; HE WOULD CALL ME AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME TO HAND ME OFF TO TEB TWR. AS I APCHED TEB; I HELD OVER PNJ NDB; WHICH IS 7 MILES FROM TEB ARPT AND CALLED NY APCH AGAIN. I TOLD THE CTLR I WAS HOLDING OVER PNJ NDB AND WOULD LIKE TO BE HANDED OFF TO TEB TWR. THE CTLR THEN BECAME VERY SARCASTIC TELLING ME I HAD NEVER BEEN CLRED INTO THE ADIZ. HE THEN GAVE ME A PHONE NUMBER TO CALL AND HANDED ME OFF TO TEB TWR. I LANDED AND PARKED AS USUAL. I BELIEVE THE PROB OCCURRED DUE TO MISCOM AS WELL AS LACK OF IT. ALTHOUGH I ACCEPT BLAME FOR VIOLATING THE AIRSPACE; I HAVE TO POINT OUT THAT THE CTLR NEVER TRIED TO CONTACT ME AS I WAS VIOLATING THE ADIZ AND IN FACT NEVER SAID ANYTHING AS I WAS NEARLY 20 NM INSIDE FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE ADIZ. THAT'S WHY WHEN I CONTACTED HIM; HE WAS VERY SARCASTIC AND NASTY AND WOULD'VE PROBABLY BEEN VERY HAPPY IF I HAD ALSO VIOLATED THE CLASS D SURROUNDING TEB.
