Synopsis

LJ31A CREW WAS UNABLE TO EXTEND THE LNDG GEAR WITH THE NORMAL GEAR EXTENSION SYS AT BDL.

Narrative

ON APCH TO LNDG AT BDL RWY 33. LNDG GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND WHEN GEAR HANDLE WAS SELECTED TO DOWN POS. LNDG GEAR WAS RETRACTED AND 2ND ATTEMPT WAS INITIATED TO EXTEND LNDG GEAR. ON SECOND ATTEMPT LNDG GEAR DID NOT APPEAR TO EXTEND. TWR WAS ASKED TO VERIFY OUR GEAR CONFIGN. A LOW APCH; FLYBY OF THE TWR VERIFIED THAT MAIN GEAR DOORS ONLY WERE OPEN. ALL GEAR WAS IN UP POS. THIS CONFIRMED GEAR INDICATIONS IN COCKPIT (2 RED GEAR MAIN DOOR UNSAFE LIGHTS). ONE LAST ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO RETRACT AND EXTEND GEAR WHICH WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. ALTERNATE GEAR EXTENSION WAS PERFORMED FOLLOWING ABNORMAL CHKLIST (ALTERNATE GEAR EXTENSION). LNDG GEAR EXTENDED WITH ALL APPROPRIATE INDICATIONS AND LNDG WAS MADE ON RWY 33. ACFT WAS TAXIED TO RAMP AREA AND NO ASSISTANCE WAS REQUIRED. CALLBACK FROM RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THIS ACFT WAS A BRAND NEW LJ31A ACFT; AND WAS JUST DELIVERED TO THE COMPANY. AFTER LNDG; THE CAPT CONTACTED HIS COMPANY. THEY INFORMED THE FACTORY; AND A TEAM OF MECHS WERE FLOWN TO THE ARPT. THEY COMPLETELY REDID THE FACTORY OPERATIONAL CHK AND MADE MULTIPLE CORRECTIONS AND ADJUSTMENTS. THE RPTR DID NOT KNOW ALL THAT WAS FOUND. HE HAS FLOWN THE ACFT SINCE; AND RPTS IT WORKS PERFECTLY.
