Synopsis

AN A300 FLT CREW NOTICES THAT THE AIRSPD INDICATORS DON'T MATCH ON TKOF ROLL RESULTING IN AN ABORTED TKOF.

Narrative

ON TKOF ROLL AT 80 KT CALLOUT; I XCHKED THE CAPT'S AIRSPD ON HIS PFD AND SAW HIS AIRSPD 20-25 KTS LOWER THAN MINE. I ADVISED THE CAPT AND HE ABORTED THE TKOF AT APPROX 100 KTS ON MY PFD AIRSPD INDICATOR. MAX BRAKES WERE APPLIED BY THE AUTO BRAKE SYS. CAPT SLOWED THE ACFT DOWN; TAXIED CLR OF THE RWY; AND STOPPED THE ACFT. I CALLED THE TWR AND TOLD THEM TO SEND ARFF. THE WHEEL TEMPS BEGAN TO CLB; AND THE HOT BRAKE AND MASTER CAUTION WARNING CAME ON. WHEEL #2 REACHED 700 DEGS. WE REMAINED STOPPED WITH THE BRAKES OFF AND BRAKE FANS ON UNTIL THE HOT MASTER CAUTION EXTINGUISHED. ARFF PERSONNEL ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NO SMOKE OR FIRE. CAPT THEN TAXIED THE ACFT TO THE GATE. NO INJURIES RPTED. IN ADDITION; MIAMI TWR SEEMED CONFUSED AS TO THE SIGNIFICANCE OF ARFF. AT ABOUT 5-10 MINS AFTER MY FIRST CALL FOR ARFF; I MADE ANOTHER CALL TO MIAMI TWR TO REQUEST ARFF AND INCLUDE THE TERM CRASH AND FIRE RESCUE. THIS TIME THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL THEM. IT APPEARS THAT ON THE INITIAL CALL FOR ARFF; THAT THE MIAMI TWR DID NOT CALL THE FIRE TRUCKS AND ONLY CALLED THE COUNTY RAMP PERSONNEL WHO SHOW UP IN 2 PICKUP TRUCKS TO INSPECT OUR HOT BRAKES.
