A320 CREW HAD AN ECAM WARNING 'ENG #1 HYD PUMP.' THE HYD PROB WAS CHRONIC.
NUMEROUS MOMENTARY 'ENG #1 HYD PUMP' ECAM'S ON CLB OUT. INTO CRUISE CLB; MESSAGE CAME ON STEADY AND WE PERFORMED THE ECAM PROC WHICH HAS US SELECT THE #1 ENG HYD PUMP TO THE OFF POS. FO; PF; SO I SENT ACARS MESSAGE TO DISPATCH. DISPATCH OFFERED PHONE PATCH TO MAINT CTLR. TALKED WITH MAINT CTLR AND DISPATCH AND ELECTED TO CONTINUE. APPEARS THIS ACFT HAS A HISTORY OF PROBS WITH THE HYD PUMP (THAT WE WERE NOT AWARE OF; THEY WERE NOT IN THE MAINT HISTORY). FLT ATTENDANTS CALLED DUE TO THE UNUSUAL NOISE FROM MID CABIN (FROM THE PTU OP).FO GAVE THEM A QUICK OVERVIEW AS I WAS STILL WORKING WITH MAINT CTLR AND DISPATCH. FO AND I HAD SIMILAR PROB WITH ACFT TWO DAYS AGO SO WE WERE 'CURRENT' ON THE PROC. I CALLED THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND TOLD THEM EXACTLY WHAT WE HAD AND THOUGHT THAT A CABIN ADVISORY WAS PRUDENT. I DID RELAY THAT I FELT THAT THE ODDS OF ADDITIONAL FAILURE WERE REMOTE AT BEST AND THIS WAS TRULY A VERY CONSERVATIVE ADVISORY. DECLARED AN EMER WITH ZDV APCH AND DID NOT REQUEST ASSISTANCE. NOTED THE PROB; NOTED WE WERE NOT LEAKING ANY FLUIDS AND THAT OUR ONLY CONCERN WOULD BE DIRECTIONAL CTLR IF WE HAD ADDITION FAILURES. APCH ASKED FOR FUEL REMAINING AND SOULS ON BOARD WHEN ABLE. WE HAD 10.4 ON FUEL AND 35 SHOULD. I BELIEVE THAT APCH THOUGHT WE HAD AN ENG FAILURE AND WE CORRECTED THAT INFO. VISUAL APCH AND LNDG RWY 16L (GS WAS INOP) WITH FO PF. NO UNUSUAL HANDLING AND MADE A NORMAL TURNOFF ON F4 AFTER SLOWING AND CONFIRMING DIRECTIONAL CTLR. CFR OFFERED TO FOLLOW US TO THE GATE; BUT FELT THAT WAS UNNECESSARY. BOTH ZDV GND AND CFR ASKED FOR CONFIRMATION THAT WE HAD NO LEAKAGE. AFTER PARKING; WE SELECTED THE ENG PUMP TO 'ON' AND IT OPERATED NORMALLY. PURSER THANKED ME FOR THE CALMING TONES AND EFFECT WHEN I HAD HER DO THE CABIN ADVISORY. WE HAD A DEAD HDG FA RIDING IN THE OVER WING ROW SO THEY ENLISTED HIM FOR THAT POSSIBLE EXIT. CUSTOMER SVC CAME AND ASKED WHAT THE PAX KNEW (NOTHING) AND INFLT SUPVRS SHOWED UP TO HELP CALM THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND SEE IF THEY HAD NEEDS OR CONCERNS. ONE FLT ATTENDANT BROKE DOWN CRYING FORM STRESS AFTER SHE GOT ON THE JETWAY.
