A FAR PART 135 PLT RE-EXAMINES HIS APCH TO CREW REST ISSUES AFTER HAVING BEEN ACCUSED OF VIOLATING CREW REST REGS.
I FINISHED A FLT ASSIGNMENT AS PIC IN THE MORNING AT XA00. IMMEDIATELY AFTER LNDG AND PARKING THE ACFT AT OUR HANGAR; I WAS NOTIFIED I WOULD BE PLACED ON CREW REST FOR 10 HRS TO ACCOMMODATE A FLT ASSIGNMENT AS FO LATER IN THE DAY (PART 135; 2 CREW). IT WAS ACTUALLY A PART 91 LEG INITIALLY FOR THIS LATER ASSIGNMENT; TO PICK UP A PART 135 FLT LATER. AFTER THIS INFO; I WAS TOLD I WAS OFFICIALLY PLACED ON CREW REST; AND MY POSTFLT DUTIES WERE ASSIGNED TO ANOTHER ON-DUTY PLT. I RELAXED FOR A FEW MINS PRIOR TO LEAVING THE BUILDING; BUT NOT BEFORE UNDERSTANDING I WOULD SHOW AT XK00 FOR A DEP IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING. THE CAPT WOULD BE BRIEFED ON THIS SHOW TIME. LATER IN THE DAY; I SHOWED AT THE ARPT AFTER SLEEP AND REST. AS TFC WAS LIGHT; MY DRIVE TOOK LESS TIME THAN EXPECTED; SO I WAITED IN THE CAR FOR A FEW MINS TO COMPLY WITH REST RULES. WHEN I WALKED IN THE BUILDING; THE CAPT TOLD ME TO RELAX AND WE'D LEAVE ONLY WHEN I WAS READY. CONCURRENTLY; WE HAD TO DELAY DEP TO XK45 TO ACCOMMODATE LAST MIN MAINT ON THE ACFT. IT SEEMS PERFECTLY HONEST TO ME; EXCEPT THAT A DISGRUNTLED FORMER EMPLOYEE CLAIMED TO THE FAA THAT I HAD VIOLATED CREW REST. I CERTAINLY DID NOT SET OUT TO DO THIS AND BELIEVE I WAS IN COMPLIANCE. HOWEVER; IN THE FUTURE; I BELIEVE I WILL DEMAND AT LEAST 1 EXTRA HR TO ACCOUNT FOR ANY POSSIBLE CLAIM LIKE THIS. IT'S UNFORTUNATE; BUT APPARENTLY NECESSARY. I WILL ALSO RE-EXAMINE MY OWN APCH TO BUSY SCHEDULES LIKE THIS.
