E145 CREW HAD A TCASII TA AFTER THE ACFT GAINED 400 FT WHEN THE AUTOPLT DISCONNECTED IN MODERATE TURB; IN A HOLDING PATTERN.
WE WERE DSNDING FOR ARR INTO LGA; ON THE MIP3 ARR. DUE TO WX ON THE ARR JUST TO THE W OF BEUTY INTXN; WE WERE GIVEN HOLDING INSTRUCTIONS AT LIZZI INTXN. WE HELD AS PUBLISHED AT 11000 FT MSL WITH 10 DME LEGS. AFTER ENTERING THE HOLD; AS WE TURNED BACK ON THE INBOUND LEG; WE PASSED THROUGH SOME BUILDUPS AND ENCOUNTERED MODERATE TURB; WINDSHEAR; AND MODERATE PRECIPITATION AND IT LASTED FOR 20 SECONDS. DURING THE SECOND TURN INBOUND ON THE HOLD; WE ASKED FOR 5 DME LEGS TO TRY TO BYPASS THE BUILDUPS; BUT IT DIDN'T HELP. ON THE INBOUND TURN OF THE HOLD; WE ENCOUNTERED MODERATE TURB AGAIN AND THIS TIME WE GOT THE STICK SHAKER; FOLLOWED BY LOSS OF THE AUTOPILOT. WHILE GAINING CTL OF THE AIRPLANE; WE GAINED 400 FT OF ALT FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS. SOMEONE WAS IN THE HOLD AT 12000 FT AND WE RECEIVED A TA; BUT NO RA. AFTER PASSING THROUGH THE BUILDUP/CELL; WE LEVELED OFF AT 11000 FT AGAIN AND RE-ENGAGED THE AUTOPLT. WE ADVISED CTR THAT WE COULD NOT TAKE ANY MORE TURNS IN THE HOLD AND WE CONTINUED ON THE ARR. AFTER THE FIRST TURN IN THE HOLD; WE SHOULD NOT HAVE CONTINUED HOLDING AT THE SAME ALT ON THE SAME RADIAL. WE SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR A DIFFERENT HOLDING FIX OR CONTINUED THE ARR.
