B206 PLT HAS GENERATOR FAILURE AND LWOC AT SAT.

Narrative

ON THIS DATE; I HAD A GENERATOR FAILURE. IT WAS DARK AND I WAS ON BATTERY PWR. 20 MI OUT; I BEGAN SQUAWKING 7600 IN AN ATTEMPT TO LET SAT KNOW I HAD PROBS. I TURNED OFF ALL ITEMS NOT NEEDED. I FLEW THE HELI APCH TO SAT. I HELD JUST N OF SAT WAITING FOR LIGHT GUN SIGNALS TO LAND. I HELD FOR ABOUT 10 MINS. STILL NO LIGHT SIGNALS WERE OBSERVED. HAVING 3 PAX AND IT BEING NIGHTTIME; I DIDN'T WANT TO FLY TO AN UNCTLED ARPT N OF SAT AND TRY TO LAND WITH NO PWR OR LNDG LIGHTS AS WELL AS POS LIGHTS. I HAD NO RADIO PWR TO TURN ON RWY LIGHTS OR TXWY LIGHTS. AS THE CAPT OF THIS FLT; I CHOSE TO FLY TO AN ARPT THAT I KNEW WELL ENOUGH TO LAND SAFELY. I WAITED N (1 MI) UNTIL NO ACFT WAS OBSERVED IN THE TFC PATTERN OR ON FINAL. ALSO; NO ACFT MOVEMENT ON THE GND AS WELL; WAS OBSERVED. STILL WITH NO LIGHT GUN SIGNAL COMING FROM THE TWR; I DECIDED TO GO AHEAD AND LAND. I REMAINED CLR OF ALL RWYS AND TXWYS AND LANDED AT SAT. AFTER LNDG; I CALLED THE SAT TWR AND SPOKE WITH THE CTLR IN CHARGE. THE CTLR DIDN'T EVEN KNOW I HAD LANDED AT SAT; AND THAT THERE WAS NO PROB. THE MAIN REASON THAT I AM WRITING THIS LETTER IS I LANDED AND FLEW IN CTLED AIRSPACE WITHOUT A CLRNC. DUE TO MY EMER; I FELT I HAD NO OTHER CHOICES THAT WERE SAFE FOR MYSELF AS WELL AS MY PAX.
