Synopsis

B767-300 CREW HAD 3 BLOWN TIRES ON THE R MAIN GEAR AFTER LNDG AT EBBR.

Narrative

THE FLT WAS CONTINUING NORMALLY UNTIL ABOUT 1 1/2 HRS INTO THE FLT WHEN THE EICAS DISPLAYED AN ANTI-SKID MESSAGE AND ALSO ONE ON THE OVERHEAD PANEL. THE LIGHT WENT OUT SHORTLY THEREAFTER. THEN ABOUT 5 MINS LATER THE ANTI-SKID LIGHT REAPPEARED AT THIS TIME WE CHKED THE STATUS MESSAGE AND IT SAID NORMAL ANTI-SKID. NO SOONER THAN WE PULLED THE MANUAL OUT THE LIGHTS THEN EXTINGUISHED AGAIN. WE HAD NO FURTHER ANTI-SKID LIGHT ILLUMINATE THROUGHOUT THE FLT; 6 HRS LATER WE LANDED ON RWY 25L AT EBBR. THE LNDG WAS SMOOTH AND WITH NO ABNORMAL INDICATIONS OR CTL PROBS AND BRAKING WAS MINIMAL. UPON TAXIING OFF THE RWY I FELT AS IF WE HAD A FLAT TIRE ABOUT THIS TIME THE TWR CALLED AND SAID WE HAD SMOKE IN THE R WHEELWELL AREA. THE ACFT WAS STOPPED AND THE CFR EQUIP WAS CALLED OUT. THEY DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO FIRE; BUT IN FACT WE HAD 3 BLOWN TIRES. THE FLT ATTENDANTS AND PAX WERE ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NO NEED TO EVACUATE AND AN AIRSTAIR AND BUSSES SHOWED UP SHORTLY THEREAFTER TO DEPLANE THE PAX. THERE WAS NO FURTHER INCIDENT AND THE ACFT WAS EVENTUALLY TOWED TO THE GATE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 596172: THERE WERE A FEW OCCURRENCES THAT MAY BE RELEVANT TO THE INCIDENT. DURING THE WALKAROUND; I NOTICED THAT THE 3 TIRES THAT BLEW APPEARED ALMOST NEW. THE #8 BRAKE LOOKED NEW ALSO. ABOUT 1 1/2 HRS INTO THE FLT (WHILE I WAS ON BREAK) WE HAD AN ANTI-SKID MESSAGE APPEAR; GO OUT; REAPPEAR; AND GO OUT AGAIN. THERE WERE NO STATUS MESSAGES. ONCE AGAIN WE CONSULTED THE QRH AS A PRECAUTION. THE TOUCHDOWN IN BRUSSELS WAS A VERY SMOOTH; LIGHT; ROLL-ON. I WOULD HAVE BEEN PROUD OF IT IF IT HAD BEEN MINE. ONCE AGAIN; THE CAPT ONLY NEEDED MINIMAL BRAKING. JUST AS THE TWR INFORMED US OF THE SMOKE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 596193: ABOUT 1 HR OR SO AFTER TKOF WE GOT ANOTHER EICAS MESSAGE 'ANTI-SKID' AND IT WENT AWAY A FEW SECONDS LATER. THIS SAME MESSAGE CAME ON A COUPLE MORE TIMES OVER THE NEXT HR AND AT ONE POINT THE EICAS MESSAGE WAS FOLLOWED BY A STATUS MESSAGE OF 'NORMAL ANTI-SKID AND ALT ANTI-SKID.'
