Synopsis

A DC10-10 FREIGHTER FLT CREW RECEIVES A TKOF WARNING HORN RESULTING IN AN ABORTED TKOF AND EVAC BY FLT CREW. THE TWR SAID FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THE AFT TIRES.

Narrative

THIS WAS THE LAST DAY OF A FATIGUING 4-DAY TRIP WITH THE SAME CREW. OUR ORIGINAL PAIRING WAS ZZZ1-ZZZ2. WHILE ENRTE TO ZZZ2; COMPANY CONTACTED US TO DIVERT TO ZZZ TO PICK UP FREIGHT. AFTER LOADING FREIGHT IN ZZZ; WE WERE MISTAKENLY FUELED AN EXTRA 400 LBS. WE BURNED THE EXTRA FUEL OFF DURING TAXI TO RWY AND WERE LEGAL FOR TKOF. OUR ACTUAL TKOF WT WAS 404900 LBS. MAX TKOF WT LNDG LIMITED WAS 406700 LBS. ALL CHKLISTS PRIOR TO TKOF WERE COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE TO COMPANY PROCS. TKOF ROLL WAS UNEVENTFUL UNTIL WE REACHED APPROX 158-161 KTS; WHEN WE RECEIVED A TKOF WARNING HORN. WITH '4450;' STOP MARGIN; WE IMMEDIATELY ABORTED THE TKOF; EXERCISING MY EMER AUTH; PRIOR TO VR AND STOPPED THE ACFT ON THE RWY WITH 1800 FT OF RWY REMAINING. DURING DECELERATION; TWR CALLED US AND INFORMED US THAT WE HAD SMOKE FROM OUR TIRES. WE BEGAN TO RUN THE RTO CHKLIST WHEN THE CTLR CALLED AND SAID WE NOW HAD A FIRE. SHE INFORMED US THAT WE COULD LEAVE THE ACFT ON THE RWY AND THAT SHE WAS CALLING ARFF AND HAVING THE TRUCKS ROLL. WE PERFORMED THE EMER QUICK EVAC CHKLIST AND EGRESS FROM THE ACFT. WHEN THERE WAS NO LONGER EVIDENT DANGER; 2 OF THE CREW MEMBERS RETURNED TO THE ACFT TO CHK THE CONFIGN; AND FOUND THE SETTINGS WERE SET CORRECTLY FOR TKOF.
