B757 FLT CREW DECLARES AN EMER AFTER MULTIPLE SYS FAILURES CAUSED BY A LIGHTNING STRIKE ON APCH TO SLC.
ON DOWNWIND; RADAR VECTORS WITH APCH CTL. WE WERE IN LIGHT RAIN; LIGHT RIDE ICE; RADAR RETURNS PRECIPITATION ONLY. SMOOTH RIME WHEN WE WERE HIT IN THE RADOME BY LIGHTNING. A TERRIFIC BOOM AND FLASH THAT TEMPORARILY BLINDED MYSELF AND THE FO. THERE WAS A SMELL OF SMOKE AND OZONE IN THE COCKPIT WITH SEVERAL EICAS MESSAGES OF ANOMALIES. THE STRIKE CAUSED THE RADAR SCREEN TO GLOW BRIGHT PINK. SEVERAL LIGHTS BURNED OUT AND OUR L YAW DAMPNER DISCONNECTED. WE ASSESSED THE SIT AND I DECLARED AN EMER TO GET EXPEDITED HANDLING NOT KNOWING HOW MANY ELECTRONIC SYS MIGHT BE COMPROMISED. THE FLT LEVEL MODE OF THE AUTOPLT (WHICH HAD STAYED ENGAGED) WAS INOP; SO THE FO (PF) USED VERT SPD. WE DIVIDED THE WORKLOAD AND I TOOK THE QRH AND ACCOMPLISHED THE ABNORMAL CHKLISTS; CALMED THE VERY CONCERNED PAX (SOME OF WHOM WERE CONCERNED THAT WE HAD BEEN STRUCK BY AN OBJECT) AND COORDINATED TIME REMAINING; TYPE OF LNDG; ACTIONS ON THE GND; ETC. THE FO FLEW AND COMMUNICATED WITH ATC. THIS SYS OF DIVISION OF LABOR WORKS VERY WELL INDEED. APCH AND TWR PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY AND WE TURNED IN EARLY; FLEW A SMOOTH STABILIZED APCH AND THE FO EXECUTED A VERY SMOOTH LNDG. EMER PERSONNEL CHKED THE ACFT FOR VISIBLE DAMAGE OR FIRE AND WE TAXIED INTO THE GATE UNDER OUR OWN PWR. ACFT IS DOWN FOR MAINT.
