AN MD80 AT FL310 DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED DUE TO LOSS OF R HYD SYS PRESSURE AND QUANTITY.
AT FL310; APPROX 80 MI W OF ALAMOSA; CO; THE AUTOPLT KICKED OFF WITH ASSOCIATED AURAL WARNINGS. MESSAGES APPEARED ON OVERHEAD PANEL FOR STALL INDICATOR FAILURE AND SINGLE ELEVATOR FEEL FAULT. ATTEMPTED TO RE-ENGAGE AUTOPLT WITH NO SUCCESS. A SCAN OF ENG AND FLT INSTS ALSO SHOWED NO HYD PRESSURE OR QUANTITY ON THE R SYS. I WAS THE PIC AND THE PF. I BEGAN TO HAND FLY THE ACFT. FO RAN ABNORMAL CHKLISTS FOR STALL WARNING AND ELEVATOR FEEL. PULLED CIRCUIT BREAKER 2-23 IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHKLIST; THEN RAN HYD SYS FAILURE CHKLIST. I NOTIFIED #1 FLT ATTENDANT OF THE LOSS OF SYS AND THAT WE WOULD BE DECLARING AN EMER. HE ASKED IF THE PAX SHOULD BE BRIEFED TO PREPARE FOR A CRASH LNDG (BRACE POS). I TOLD HIM TO PREPARE FOR THAT. THE FO NOTIFIED DISPATCHER AND MAINT WHO CONCURRED THE INDICATIONS HE GAVE THEM WAS A R HYD SYS FAILURE. I DECLARED EMER WITH ATC AND PREPARED FOR EMER LNDG IN ZZZ. ACCOMPLISHED HYD SYS FAILURE CHKLIST INCLUDING MANUAL EXTENSION OF LNDG GEAR. ALL COCKPIT INDICATIONS SHOWED GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED. WX AT ZZZ WAS SCATTERED CLOUDS; LIGHT RAIN AND LIGHT WINDS FROM THE N. LANDED ON RWY 34L AND STOPPED STRAIGHT AHEAD. EMER COMMAND LEADER CONFIRMED ACFT LOOKED NORMAL. GEAR WAS PINNED AND ACFT WAS TOWED TO THE GATE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE CAUSE OF THE LOSS OF R SYS HYD PRESSURE AND QUANTITY WAS A TRIPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR THE CTR ELECTRICAL DRIVEN HYD PUMP. THE RPTR SAID WHEN THE BREAKER TRIPPED IT ALSO FAILED THE R PRESSURE AND QUANTITY INDICATORS AND APPEARED AS A COMPLETE SYS LOSS.
