THE PLT WAS TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF THE ACTIVE RWYS. HE MISSED THE RWY SIGNS OF 2 RWY ENDS THAT INTERSECTED. HE CROSSED 1 RWY AND INCURRED THE SECOND RWY WHEN HE REALIZED HIS ERROR.

Narrative

WHILE ON THE GA RAMP; SGJ WAS GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS TO 'TAXI TO RWY 6; DON'T BLOCK RWY 2; IT'S BEING USED AS A TXWY.' HAVING BEEN TO THIS ARPT ONCE IN THE PAST I RECALLED A STRANGE INTXN BTWN THE RAMP AND THE APCH ENDS OF RWYS 2 AND 6. I HAD MINS EARLIER CONSULTED THE ARPT DIAGRAM IN THE ARPT FACILITIES DIRECTORY BEFORE LNDG AND PASSING THROUGH THIS INTXN ON MY WAY TO THE RAMP. AS I EXITED THE RAMP I SAW THE SIGNAGE FOR RWY 2/20 SEEING THERE WAS NOT ROOM BEFORE RWY 2 TO DO A RUN-UP; AND NOT WANTING TO 'BLOCK RWY 2;' I CONTINUED INTENDING TO STOP AT THE RWY 6 HOLD SHORT LINE. THE NEXT SURFACE MARKINGS I SAW WAS THE '6' ON THE RWY SURFACE AS THE NOSE OF THE ACFT WAS APCHING IT. REALIZING I HAD STRAYED ONTO THE RWY I QUICKLY ACCELERATED ACROSS IT AND NOTIFIED GND CTL OF MY MISTAKE. NO EVASIVE ACTION WAS RECEIVED BY ANY OTHER ACFT. AS I WAS DEPARTING I DIDN'T HAVE A CHANCE TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT THE MARKINGS AND SIGNAGE. I DON'T RECALL SEEING A RWY 6/24 SIGN AS I APCHED IT. I ALSO DON'T RECALL SEEING A HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 6/24. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW OF THE ARPT DIAGRAM I THINK RWYS 2 AND 6 MUST HAVE A COMMON HOLD SHORT LINE AT THE EXIT FROM THE RAMP. THE RWY 6/24 SIGN MAY NOT BE IN A STANDARD LOCATION BECAUSE OF THE LAYOUT OF THIS INTXN. I ALSO THINK WHAT THE CTLR MEANT BY 'TAXI TO RWY 6 BUT DONT' BLOCK RWY 2 IT'S BEING USED AS A TXWY' MUST HAVE BEEN; HOLD SHORT AND DOING RUN-UP SOMEWHERE ON THE RAMP; BUT NOT AT THE HOLD SHORT LINE. STOPPING AT THE HOLD SHORT LINE; OR ANYWHERE ON THE SHORT TXWY WOULD HAVE BLOCKED ACFT ENTERING THE RAMP FROM RWY 2. FINALLY KNOWING OF THE CONFUSING GEOMETRY OF THIS INTXN I SHOULD HAVE ASKED FOR CLARIFICATION FROM THE CTLR.
