A PA23 SINGLE PLT RELIED ON HIS PLT PAX TO HELP HIM TAXI AT PDK WHERE HE MADE AN INCURSION ON RWY 2L-20R IN FRONT OF A LNDG C172.
AFTER LNDG RWY 2R AT PDK AND CLRING THE RWY AT TXWY J; I CONTACTED GND FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO TAXI BACK FOR TKOF. I DIDN'T HAVE AN ARPT DIAGRAM NOR DID I WRITE DOWN THE CLRNC TO TAXI; BUT I WAS WITH A PLT WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT. THE CLRNC WAS FROM TXWY J AT RWY 2R; L ON TXWY A; L ON RWY 16; R ON RWY 20R TO RWY 2R AND HOLD BEHIND THE FALCON JET. I HAD TO ASK FOR THE GND CTLR TO REPEAT THE LAST HALF OF THE CLRNC; THEN I READ IT BACK. IT FIRST OCCURRED TO ME THAT THERE WAS A PROB WHEN; WHILE TAXIING ON RWY 20R; I HEARD A C172 BEING CLRED TO LAND RWY 2L! I LOOKED OUT AND I SAW A C172 LINING UP ON THE RWY ON WHICH I WAS TAXIING. ON MY OWN; I DECIDED TO TURN OFF THE RWY ONTO TXWY A; BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL CLRNC TO TAXI UP BEHIND THE FALCON JET WAS NOT POSSIBLE; DUE TO LACK OF SPACE. ONCE CLR OF THE RWY (RWY 2L/20R); THE CTLR ASKED ME TO CONFIRM I WAS CLR; WHICH I ACKNOWLEDGED FOR HIM. AFTER THE C172 HAD LANDED ON RWY 2L AND THE FALCON HAD TAXIED INTO POS RWY 2R; I WAS CLRED TO TAXI TO AND HOLD SHORT RWY 2R. I COMPLIED WITH THIS AND WAS CLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 2R SHORTLY THEREAFTER. DURING ALL OF THIS; THE CTLR NEVER SAID ANYTHING THAT CAUSED ME TO THINK THAT HE WAS CONCERNED OR THAT I HAD MADE ANY ERROR. THE WHOLE INCIDENT SEEMED LIKE IT COULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED BETTER ON BOTH MY PART AS WELL AS THE CTLR. IN THE FUTURE; REGARDLESS OF WHO I'M WITH; I WILL HAVE MY ARPT DIAGRAM AND KNEEBOARD.
