Synopsis

A HAWKER PLT STARTED HIS ENGS WITH THE FUEL TRUCK STILL NEAR THE ACFT ENGS.

Narrative

A HAWKER WAS PARKED ON THE RAMP OF THE JET CTR FBO. THE FLT CREW ARRIVED AT THE JET CTR AND INFORMED THE LINE SVC PERSONNEL THEY WOULD BE DEPARTING. THE ACFT HAD BEEN PARKED ON A SEGMENT OF RAMP WHERE SEVERAL OTHER CPR JET ACFT WERE PARKED DIRECTLY BEHIND IT. FOR THIS REASON; THE LINE SVC DEPT DID NOT WANT THE ACFT DEPARTING FROM THAT LOCATION AND INFORMED THE PLTS THE ACFT WOULD HAVE TO BE MOVED. THE CAPT WAS IRATE AT THE FACT THE AIRPLANE WOULD HAVE TO BE MOVED AND OVERALL HAD A POOR ATTITUDE DEALING WITH THE LINE SVC PERSONNEL. NEEDLESS TO SAY; THE ACFT WAS TOWED TO A BETTER RAMP LOCATION AND FUELED. HOWEVER; BECAUSE OF THE CAPT'S TEMPER AND COCKY ATTITUDE; HE DID NOT WAIT FOR THE FUEL TRUCK TO MOVE BEFORE STARTING HIS ENGS. THE 5000 GAL FUEL TRUCK WAS PARKED APPROX 5 FT BEHIND THE HAWKER AS BOTH ENGS WERE STARTED. THE LINE SVC TECHNICIAN FUELING THE AIRPLANE IMMEDIATELY MOVED THE TRUCK FROM BEHIND THE ACFT. NO DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE EQUIP; HOWEVER; IT WAS A HAZARD AND WAS SINGLE-HANDEDLY CAUSED BY THE CAPT'S IMPATIENCE AND; IN MY OPINION; THE CAPT TRYING TO 'SHOW OFF' THAT HE WAS NOT GOING TO WAIT FOR ANYONE. AS MENTIONED BEFORE; NO DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE TRUCK; HOWEVER; UNNECESSARY RISK WAS PLACED ON THE LINE SVC TECHNICIAN BEHIND THE AIRPLANE.
