Synopsis

A BE1900 CREW WAS DISPATCHED TO AN INCORRECT DEST IN A STATE WITH A SAME NAME AS THE INTENDED DEST. THEY DID NOT HAVE THE APCH PLATES ON BOARD BUT LANDED IN VFR CONDITIONS.

Narrative

IN THE AFTERNOON OF OCT/THU/04 I WAS NOTIFIED OF A FLT TO ZZZ1 BY COMPANY DISPATCH. ALL THE FLT PLANNING AND FILING WAS ACCOMPLISHED THAT EVENING FOR FLT DEPARTING AT XA15 CST. THE APPROPRIATE PAPERWORK TO INCLUDE THE TRIP SHEET AND CURRENT WX AND THE APPROPRIATE PUBS TO ACCOMPLISH THE FLT WERE REVIEWED AND PLACED ON THE ACFT. ABOUT 40 MINS INTO THE FLT AT FL230 ONE PAX QUESTIONED OUR DEST AND SAID WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GO TO ZZZ2. I CONFERRED WITH THE COPLT; WE CHANGED THE FLT PLAN ENRTE; CALLED FLT SVC FOR THE DEST WX; DECIDED ON A SUITABLE ALTERNATE; AND DETERMINED WE HAD ADEQUATE FUEL TO MEET ALL ALTERNATE REQUIREMENTS. ALL PUBS EXCEPT THE APCH CHARTS FOR ZZZ2; WERE ON BOARD. WE CONTINUALLY CHKED THE WX ENRTE AND THE CONDITIONS WERE IMPROVING; HOWEVER AT 30 MI FROM OUR DEST WE DETERMINED THAT WE SHOULD HAVE THE CHART INFO; SO A RADIO CALL WAS MADE TO FLT SVC AND WE LISTED ALL THE INFO TO ACCOMPLISH THE APCH. UPON OUR ARR WE WERE ABLE TO APCH AND LAND UNDER VFR CONDITIONS. THE APPROPRIATE CHARTS TO ACCOMPLISH THE RETURN FLT WERE PURCHASED AND THE REST OF THE DAY WAS UNEVENTFUL. THIS FORM IS BEING SUBMITTED BECAUSE FLT SVC QUESTIONED WHETHER OR NOT WE HAD THE APPROPRIATE PUBS ON BOARD. AS I STATED BEFORE WE HAD ALL THE NECESSARY ITEMS EXCEPT THE APCH CHART. SITS SUCH AS THESE CAN BE AVOIDED BY BETTER COMS WHEN SCHEDULING A COMPANY FLT. THE BREAKDOWN WAS THE INFO GIVEN TO DISPATCH; NOT THE INFO FROM DISPATCH TO THE PLTS.
