Synopsis

APCH CTLR DID NOT ADVISE AN A300 FLT CREW THAT THE LOC FREQ HAD BEEN CHANGED TO THE OPPOSITE RWY.

Narrative

WE WERE ON VECTORS TO INTERCEPT THE LOC FOR RWY 23L AT LCK. BOTH THE CAPT AND I RECEIVED A GOOD IDENT. THE CAPT SAID IT SEEMED AS IF WE WERE GETTING INDIRECT SENSING. I VOICED THIS CONCERN TO APCH CTL. HE SAID HE WOULD GIVE US A VECTOR TO THE RWYS; WHICH HE DID. AFTER HE SWITCHED US OVER TO TWR; I QUESTIONED THE TWR WHETHER RWY 23L OR RWY 5R LOC WAS UP. HE SAID RWY 5R WAS UP AND THAT HE HAD TOLD APCH CTL SO. I TOLD HIM THAT NO ONE SAID ANYTHING TO US. AFTER LNDG; WE AGAIN CHKED THE IDENT -- NOW IT WAS ON RWY 5R (SAME FREQ AS RWY 23L). WHILE TAXIING IN; I QUESTIONED THE TWR IF HE RECENTLY CHANGED APCHS. HE SAID YES; WHEN HE CAME IN ABOUT 10 MINS EARLIER HE HAD CHANGED APCHS TO PREPARE FOR THE EVENING PUSH. NO ONE EXPECTED US BECAUSE WE WERE A LAST MIN EXTRA FLT. WHEN THE TWR CTLR CAME ON DUTY; HE JUST SWITCHED APCHS; BECAUSE NOBODY WAS SCHEDULED IN AT THAT TIME. HE PROBABLY DIDN'T CHK. WE ALL GET LULLED INTO SHORTCUTS BECAUSE OF ROUTINE; AND I THINK THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF THAT. HAD A FEW OTHER FACTORS BEEN PRESENT; THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A HEADLINE.
