Synopsis

FLT CREW OF B190 ATTEMPT TO ASSIST GND HANDLERS ON SLIPPERY RAMP. DISCOVER NIL BRAKING ACTION AND CONTACT SW4 PARKED IN CLOSE PROX WHEN UNABLE TO STOP ACFT MOTION.

Narrative

THE FUELER WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET THE ACFT OUT OF THE HANGAR. HE WAS USING A SMALL PWRED DOLLY TO TOW THE ACFT. THAT DOLLY WAS SKIDDING AND SLIPPING IN PLACE BECAUSE OF THE SNOW ON THE GND. THERE WAS NO BRAKING ACTION FOR THE RAMP. A METROLINER HAPPENED TO BE PARKED OUT ON THE RAMP. THE WINGTIP OF THE 1900 LOOKED WELL CLR OF THE METROLINER AND MY FO ALSO AGREED THAT THERE WAS ENOUGH CLRNC BTWN THE METROLINER TAIL CONE AND THE BEECHCRAFT 1900D L WINGTIP. I DECIDED TO HELP OUT. I GOT IN THE ACFT WITH MY FO; STARTED UP AND TRIED TO USE DIFFERENTIAL PWR AND BRAKING TO TURN THE ACFT TO THE R AND OUT TO THE GATE. THE FUELER DISCONNECTED HIS USELESS DOLLY FROM THE NOSEWHEEL AND ACTED AS A WING WATCHER. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE AS FEW FT WHEN THE FUELER SIGNALED FOR ME TO STOP. I TRIED VERY HARD TO STOP BY USING 'GND FINE' AND BRAKES. MY ACFT CONTINUED SLIDING FORWARD AND THE L WING OF MY ACFT HIT THE METROLINER TAIL CONE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DAMAGE WAS MINOR ON BOTH ACFT. I SHOULD NOT HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO HELP OUT. JUST LET THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TRAINED DO THEIR JOBS HANDLE THE SIT; AND I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A DELAY RATHER THAN TRYING TO HELP OUT AND HAVE AN ON TIME DEP AND THEN AT THE END I END UP SMACKING A TAIL CONE.
