AN A320 LOST YELLOW HYD SYS FLUID RESULTING IN A PROCEDURAL SECURING OF THE AFFECTED SYS. EMER DECLARED; HOT BRAKES ON LNDG.

Narrative

ECAM NOTIFIED CREW OF LOW YELLOW SYS HYD FLUID. SYS WAS SHUT DOWN PER PROCS. CONSULTED WITH DISPATCH AND MAINT IN REGARDS TO CONDITION. NOTIFIED STATION AND FSS OF OUR SIT. DISPATCH COORDINATED WITH ATC FOR RWY 32L. LANDED INTO THE WIND; USED RWY 32L DUE TO LIMITED POTENTIAL BRAKING AND LOSS OF THRUST REVERSER ON R ENG. UPON UNEVENTFUL LNDG; HVY VIBRATION WAS FELT IN NOSE GEAR AND AIR FRAME. FEARFUL OF ADDITIONAL SAFETY ISSUES; CLRED RWY AND HAD FIRE CREWS LOOK OVER ACFT FOR ADDITIONAL PROBS AND FIRE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH HYD LEAK. SHUT DOWN ACFT ON TXWY UNTIL COM WITH GND CREWS CONFIRMED SAFE OP OF ACFT WAS ASSURED. TAXIED TO THE INTL GATES WITHOUT ADDITIONAL PROBS WITH FIRE WATCH TRAILING THE ACFT. LANDED WITH MINIMUM BRAKES BUT STILL HAD HOT BRAKES ON R SIDE OF ACFT (330 DEGS). HYD FLUID AND SMOKE WAS RPTED INITIALLY BY GND FIRE CREW COMING FROM R MAIN BRAKES. MAINT CLRED US TO TAXI TO THE GATE ONCE THEY LOOKED OVER THE ACFT ON TXWY A. ATC PROVIDED EXCELLENT SVC WITH NO DELAYS. LANDED ASAP GIVEN THE LOCATION AND TIME REMAINING FROM THE INITIAL SITE OF THE EVENT.
