Synopsis

AN A320 EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE COMPRESSOR STALLS WITH TKOF THRUST APPLICATION.

Narrative

IT WAS MY TKOF FROM RWY 8; I APPLIED TKOF THRUST TO THE ENGS AND BEGAN THE TKOF ROLL. SHORTLY AFTERWARDS THERE WAS A LOUD BANG AND THE ACFT SWERVED HARD TO THE R. I COULD NOT MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CTL WITH PWR UP. WE ABORTED THE TKOF AND CORRECTED TO CTRLINE. WE SET THE PARKING BRAKE. NUMEROUS ECAMS FOR THE #2 ENG WERE DISPLAYED. WE PUT THE #2 ENG MASTER SWITCH TO 'OFF.' THEN TWR AND SEVERAL ACFT RPTED THAT WE WERE ON FIRE. THERE WERE REPEATED COMMENTS ON TWR FREQ ABOUT THE #2 ENG BURNING. THE CAPT ORDERED AN EVAC. WE RAN THE EVAC QRC. AFTER COMPLETING THE CHKLIST; THE CAPT AND I ASSISTED THE EVAC IN THE CABIN. AFTER ALL PAX WERE OUT OF THE CABIN; WE SEARCHED UP AND DOWN THE AISLE TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO ONE LEFT. I FOUND 6 PEOPLE STANDING ON THE L WING; OUT OF SIGHT. I ENSURED THEY USED THE SLIDE. AFTER I WAS SURE THE ACFT WAS EMPTY; I LEFT OUT DOOR 1L. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: FO RPTED THAT MULTIPLE COMPRESSOR STALLS OCCURRED AND CONTINUED EVEN AFTER THE REJECTED TKOF THRUST REDUCTION. HE STATED THAT TURNING THE FUEL CTL SWITCH OFF SHUT THE ENG OFF BUT THE NIGHTTIME GLOW OF A FIRE CONTINUED BECAUSE OF POOLED FUEL INSIDE OF THE ENG.
