DISTR BY A VARIETY OF THINGS RELATED TO BOTH ACFT OP AND PERSONAL; PLT OF AA5 CROSSES HOLD SHORT LINE OF ACTIVE RWY. ALERT LCL CTLR INTERCEDES AND AVOIDS CONFLICT WITH DEP ACFT.
I WAS CLRED TO TAXI TO RWY 18 VIA THE RWY 9/27 PARALLEL TXWY AND TURN ONTO TXWY C BUT HOLD SHORT OF XING RWY 9/27. I MISSED THE TURN ONTO TXWY C AND CONTINUED STRAIGHT AND ROLLED OVER THE RWY 18/36 HOLD SHORT LINE AND ALMOST TAXIED ACROSS RWY 18/36 WHILE ANOTHER PLANE WAS ON THE TKOF ROLL ON RWY 18/36. DISASTER WAS AVOIDED WHEN THE GND CTLR SCREAMED; 'ACFT X STOP!' I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES ON TOP OF THE HOLD SHORT LINE AND MY NOSEWHEEL AND MAINS HAD ROLLED OVER THE HOLD SHORT LINE. GND REQUESTED THAT I DO A 180 DEG TURN BACK ONTO TXWY C; WHICH I WAS ABLE TO DO. AFTER A BRIEF HOLD SHORT AT RWY 9/27 ON TXWY C; GND CLRED ME ACROSS FOR THE CONTINUATION OF TAXI DOWN TO RWY 18. EXTENUATING FACTORS INCLUDE: FIRST FLT WITH NEW HIGH QUALITY HEADPHONES. EVERYTHING SOUNDED DIFFERENT. THE ENG SOUNDED DIFFERENT; THE RADIOS WERE LOUDER; AND THE GEL EAR SEALS FIT DIFFERENT. THIS MAY APPEAR TO BE AN INSIGNIFICANT FACTOR; BUT IT WAS INITIALLY VERY DISTRACTING. TUNNEL VISION. SOMEHOW WHEN I LOOKED UP; I LOCKED ONTO RWY 18/36 THINKING IT WAS THE TXWY FOR RWY 18/36 AND FOCUSED MY VISION ON IT; EXCLUDING PERIPHERAL VISION CLUES THAT I WAS ROLLING PAST TXWY C. I THOUGHT RWY 18/36 WAS TXWY C; DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE ARPT HAS PROPER SIGNAGE. MY HANGAR IS AT THE E END OF THE ARPT VERY CLOSE TO RWY 27. I ACTUALLY DEPART RWY 27 MOST OF THE TIME -- NEARLY ALL THE TIME. THE ARPT HAS JUST RECENTLY COMPLETED RESURFACING AND RENAMING THE TXWYS IN THE INCIDENT AREA. I DID NOT REALIZE HOW UNFAMILIAR I WAS WITH HOW TO GET DOWN TO RWY 18! I WAS LATE. I WAS SUPPOSED TO MEET SOME OTHER PEOPLE AT THE DEST ARPT AND I WAS LATE DUE TO A MIX-UP IN UNDERSTANDING THE TIME. THIS WAS A PRESSURE FACTOR THAT WAS CLOUDING MY CONCENTRATION. I HAD RECENTLY BEEN SUBJECTED TO AN UNPLEASANT SITUATION AT WORK AND I KEPT TRYING TO PUSH THAT TO THE BACK OF MY MIND; BUT IT KEPT POPPING UP AS A DISTR. SO ALL-IN-ALL; THERE WAS A LONG LIST OF DISTRS AND PRESSURES WHEN TAKEN ONE AT A TIME WERE ACTUALLY NOT TOO OVERWHELMING; BUT ADDED TOGETHER CAUSED AN OVERLOAD OF DISTRS. WHEN THINGS STARTED TO OVERLOAD MY JUDGEMENT; I DID NOT GET AHEAD OF THE SITUATION TO CTL IT.
