Synopsis

CYYZ GATES X AND Y ALLOW COMMUTER ACFT TO PARK TOO CLOSE TOGETHER TO SAFELY ALLOW TWO ACFT AND THE FUELING TRUCK.

Narrative

AFTER WE CAME TO A STOP AT GATE X; I NOTICED THE GUIDEMAN MOVE TOWARD THE FUEL TRUCK THAT WAS FUELING AN ACFT ON THE L SIDE OF THE ACFT. WHEN I TURNED AROUND; I SAW THAT THE L WING TIP WAS ABOUT 1 TO 2 INCHES FROM THE FUEL TRUCK. I SAW THE FUEL TRUCK FUELING THE ACFT AT GATE Y AS I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING SPOT. THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE. BUT SINCE I HAD A GUIDEMAN AND TWO WINGWALKERS; WITH THE L WINGWALKER NEXT TO THE FUEL TRUCK; I CONTINUED TO PARK WATCHING THE GUIDEMAN. THE WINGWALKER ON THE L SIDE WAS NOT PAYING ATTENTION. I CALLED OPS AND HAD A SUPVR COME OUT. THE PARKING AT CYYZ SPOTS X AND Y ARE CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. TO FUEL THE ACFT AT X; THE FUEL TRUCK IS BETWEEN THE PARKING SPOTS. THE FUELERS NEED TO BE CLOSER TO THE ACFT AT X. WE ALSO HAVE AN ACR Y ACFT THAT IS A HIGH WING ACFT. THE STOP LINE FOR Y SHOULD BE MOVED BACK APPROX 5 FT. THIS COULD GIVE MORE ROOM BETWEEN ACFT. THERE IS A POSSIBLE PROB WITH THE VEHICLE TFC LANES THAT PASS BEHIND THE ACFT AT THE SPOTS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE ACR PERSONNEL IN CHARGE OF THIS GATE HAVE TAKEN NO ACTION TO CORRECT THE ACFT/REFUELING TRUCK PROX PROB. THEY KNOW WHAT ACFT WILL BE IN WHICH GATE AND WHEN. THEREFORE; THEY COULD MOVE ACFT EITHER MORE FORWARD OR AFT WHILE IN THIS PARKING AREA IN ORDER TO GET MORE SPACE BETWEEN THEM. HOWEVER; OPS IS NOT BEING RESPONSIVE; THEREFORE; THE RPTR FELT A RPT WAS NECESSARY TO MOVE BEYOND LOCAL CTL; POSSIBLY GETTING THE ARPT INVOLVED.
