B737 HAS A TRIPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER RPT. TECHNICIANS FIND #2 ENG IGNITION BREAKER TRIPPED. RESET BREAKER. FLT CREW QUESTIONED WHAT TO DO IF BREAKER TRIPPED AGAIN. BREAKER WAS SUBSEQUENTLY PULLED AND SYS LEFT ON MEL.

Narrative

CREW CALLED; ASKED FOR CIRCUIT BREAKER COLLAR AND ALSO HAD ANOTHER WRITE-UP FOR A POPPED CIRCUIT BREAKER. ME AND MR X WENT OUT TO THE ACFT. WE FOUND L #2 ENG CIRCUIT BREAKER POPPED. WE CHKED THE MEL ON THE LOGBOOK COVER AND FOUND THE SYS ON MEL FROM THE PREVIOUS STATION. WE CHKED THE MEL FOR MAINT PROC AND FOUND NONE; SO WE PROCEEDED WITH RESETTING THE CIRCUIT BREAKER FOR THAT SYS AND SIGNED OFF THE LOG PAGE AS PREVIOUSLY DEFERRED SYS PER THE MEL. MR X THEN GAVE THE LOGBOOK TO THE FLT CREW; THEN AFTER 1-2 MINS; MR X CAME OUT AND SAID THE CREW ASKED; 'WHAT IF THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS POPPED AGAIN?' I DID NOT HAVE AN ANSWER NOR DID MR. X. MR X CALLED MR Y BACK IN ZZZ1 AND PRESENTED HIM WITH THE SAME QUESTION. MR Y TOLD HIM TO SEE IF WE COULD CHANGE THE IGNITION BOX/LEAD; SO WE WENT BACK TO THE OFFICE/SHOP TO DISCUSS THIS WITH NEXT SHIFT LEAD; MR Z. BECAUSE IT WAS VERY CLOSE TO TURNOVER TIME AND NEXT SHIFT WOULD HAVE A TI-IN; MR Z SAID WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO LEAVE THE SYS ON MEL; AND HE TALKED TO ZZZ1 AND MR Y AND THEY BOTH AGREED TO NOT DO ANYTHING BUT PULL CIRCUIT BREAKERS AND LEAVE IT ON MEL. I AGREED WITH HIM AND MR Z CAME OUT TO SPEAK WITH THE CREW. AFTER SPEAKING TO THE CREW THEY ALSO AGREED TO THAT AND NOTING THAT THE CIRCUIT BREAKER IS LEFT OUT. THEN AFTER I GOT HOME I CALLED MY MGR MR W AT HOME TO ASK HIM IF WE COULD HAVE DONE ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY. HE CONTACTED ZZZ; MR Y; AND TECHNICAL SVC; MR A; AND THEY BOTH AGREED WE COULD LEAVE THE CIRCUIT BREAKER OUT AND THAT MR W IS GOING TO BRING UP THE ISSUE WITH ENG THE NEXT DAY AND GET BACK TO ME WITH THE ANSWER.
