A B757-200 LNDG GEAR CTL MODULE WAS REPLACED WITH NO GEAR SWING REQUIRED. GEAR PINS WERE INSTALLED AND REMOVED BUT REQUIRED INSPECTION FOR PIN INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL NOT DOCUMENTED.

Narrative

THE LNDG GEAR CTL MODULE WAS R&R'ED BY MECH ASSIGNED TO ME; PER MAINT MANUAL 32-31-01-4. NO RIGGING WAS DISTURBED; AND NO GEAR SWING REQUIRED FOR THE APPROPRIATE TEST. THEREFORE; IT WAS NOT THOUGHT TO BE AN RII. UPON RELEASING THE ACFT; WE REALIZED THAT THE ENTRY FOR THE GEAR PINS TO BE INSTALLED OR REMOVED HAD NOT BEEN MADE (FOR THE TESTS). I GENERATED AN ITEM FOR THE GEAR PINS ON THE OUTBOUND PAGE OF THE LOGBOOK; WHICH I LEFT IN THE LOGBOOK. PULL LOGBOOK PAGE WHEN RII IS IN QUESTION. NONE OF THESE ITEMS CONTRIBUTED TO THE INCIDENT IN QUESTION. HOWEVER; IT WOULD BE NICE IF THE MAINT MANUAL WOULD INDICATE WHETHER OR NOT IT IS AN RII. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE LNDG GEAR MODULE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT IS NOT A REQUIRED FAA INSPECTION ITEM. THE COMPANY MADE THE INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL OF THE LNDG GEAR PINS AN RII AND A LOGBOOK ENTRY IS REQUIRED AND CLRED WHEN THE PINS ARE REMOVED. THE RPTR FAILED TO MAKE THE LOGBOOK ENTRY BUT THE PINS WERE INSTALLED AND REMOVED PRIOR TO FLT.
