B737 FLT CREW; DURING LOADING OF CARGO; INADVERTENTLY MISS LOCATION OF HAZMAT AND IT IS LOADED IN THE WRONG SECTION OF THE ACFT. THIS MAKES THE HAZMAT INACCESSIBLE DURING FLT.
HAZMAT DOCUMENTATION WAS INCORRECT. WAS TOLD HAZMAT WOULD BE PUT IN CORRECT POS. WE DID NOT VERIFY IT WAS IN CORRECT POS. HAZMAT WAS LOADED IN POS #5; SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN POS #1. ALL FREIGHT OP. DELAYED LOADING; FUELING AND PAPERWORK. LOADING WAS NOT EVEN STARTED TILL 1 HR AFTER DEP. MAINT LOG WAS FIRST ITEM TO BE READY AND IT SHOWED 1 HR 5 MINS AFTER SCHEDULED DEP TIME. THERE WAS NO MAINT ISSUES OR WX OR SCHEDULING ISSUES THAT CAUSED THIS DELAY. IT SEEMED TO BE GENERAL LACK OF INTEREST IN THE FLT. I LET THIS PERCEIVED ATTITUDE DISTRACT ME AND AFFECT MY ATTITUDE. THE RESULT; WHEN THE HAZMAT SHOWED I CHKED THAT ALL WAS FILLED OUT PROPERLY AND SIGNED. I WAS TOLD EARLIER BY AGENT (PRIOR TO GETTING PAPERWORK) THAT WE WOULD HAVE HAZMAT AND THAT IT WOULD BE LOADED IN PALLET POS #1. ON ARRIVING KTN; FOUND OUT IT WAS IN FACT INCORRECTLY LOADED IN POS #5. WITH WIDE PALLETS; THIS IS INCORRECT. THE PAPERWORK DID SAY IN FACT SAY POS #5. IT WAS AN ERROR THAT I SHOULD HAVE TRAPPED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 686945: WITH WIDE 125 INCH PALLETS BTWN POS #1 AND POS #5 WE COULD NOT HAVE GAINED ACCESS TO PALLET POS #5 IF NECESSARY. PREVENTIVE MEASURES: GO WHEN YOU ARE READY AS A FLT DECK CREW MEMBER; DON'T ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE RUSHED BY A LATE ARR OF A MAINT LOGBOOK OR THE LAST SECOND FORM THAT SHOWS UP. SET YOUR OWN PACE.
