A PLT COMMENTS ABOUT HIS ACR'S CREW SCHEDULING POLICIES CREATING FATIGUE AMONG RESERVES. PLTS FEAR DISCIPLINARY ACTION AND SO FLY FATIGUED.

Narrative

WE WERE FLYING TO ORD AFTER BEING REASSIGNED IN ZZZ. ORIGINALLY; WE HAD AN XA00 CHECK-IN TO FERRY A PLANE TO ZZZ; THEN FLY A REVENUE FLT IMMEDIATELY AFTER (20 MIN SIT) TO ORD TO DEADHEAD HOME. OUR INBOUND TO ZZZ WAS DELAYED; SO WE WERE REASSIGNED TO NOW FLY TO ZZZ1; THEN TO ORD; THEN DEADHEAD HOME. THE NIGHT BEFORE; THE CAPT HAD HIS REST REDUCED TO 12 HRS AT THE END OF HIS 3 DAY TRIP SO THAT HE COULD BE REASSIGNED AN ADDITIONAL DAY OF FLYING UNDER THE 'ONLY RESERVE AVAILABLE' AGREEMENT IN THE CONTRACT. I HAD FLOWN A 6 DAY TRIP; 130 HRS AWAY FROM BASE; HAD 3 DAYS OFF; AND HAD JUST FLOWN AN ZZZ2-ORD-ZZZ2 TURN THE DAY BEFORE. FRANKLY; I AM TIRED. EVERY TRIP I LEAVE ON IS OPEN ENDED; AND THE CREW DESK CONTINUALLY GIVES ME REASSIGNMENTS AT THE TOP OF DSCNT ON MY LAST LEGS OF FLYING. I CAN'T RECALL IF THAT WAS THE CASE ON THIS FLT; ALTHOUGH I DID RECEIVE A MESSAGE TO CALL THE CREW DESK AT SOME POINT DURING THE END OF THIS FLT. WE WERE GIVEN A DSCNT AT APPROX 100 MI OUT OF FLM; TO CROSS FLM; I BELIEVE AT FL320. WE WERE AT FL340. I PUT THE RESTR IN THE ALT WINDOW; WE BOTH POINTED AT IT; AND THEN INTO THE FMC. SINCE IT WAS SO FAR AWAY; AND SUCH A SHALLOW DSCNT; I SIMPLY FORGOT ABOUT IT. WHEN THE 'DECELERATE' ANNUNCIATION APPEARED ON MY PDF; NOTHING REGISTERED IN MY MIND AND I CLRED IT. I BELIEVE IT CAME UP AGAIN; 'DECELERATE;' AND AGAIN; NOTHING. I HAVE FLOWN SO MUCH LATELY; THAT THINGS DON'T RING UP IN MY MIND LIKE THEY SHOULD. FLTS ARE BLENDING TOGETHER. I HAVE CONTACTED BOTH THE UNION AND THE FLT OFFICE; ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT 1) WE (THE UNION) TOLD THEM (THE COMPANY) SO; AND 2) THAT 'WE'RE (THE FLT OFFICE) MAKING NOISE.' THIS IS NO LONGER SAFE. I AM A SOUND PLT. THE COMPANY IS ABUSING RESERVES; AND HOPING THAT NOTHING BAD WILL COME OF IT. THE SICK POLICY MAKES YOU AFRAID TO CALL IN SICK OR FATIGUED; FOR FEAR OF RETRIBUTION. WE MISSED OUR XING RESTR BY 4 MI. THE RESULT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THANK GOD IT WASN'T.
