Synopsis

A B767-300 AFTER LNDG AND TURNING OFF THE RWY ON TO A TXWY THE R ENG WAS SHUT DOWN. IMMEDIATELY LOST ALL ELECTRICAL PWR. DISCOVERED L AC BUS TRIPPED.

Narrative

OCT/XA/06; B767-300 TAXI IN. AFTER LNDG WE CLRED RWY 9R ONTO TXWY B; WAITED 3 MINS WHILE TAXIING AND ELECTED TO SHUT DOWN THE R ENG. EVERYTHING APPEARED NORMAL. WITHIN A MIN OR SO WE STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL PWR PROBS. IT INITIALLY APPEARED TO BE AC PWR SHEDDING AND RECONNECTING AS WE WOULD BE REDUCED TO BATTERY PWR AND THEN NORMAL AC PWR AND THEN FINALLY LOSS OF ALL AC PWR. I IMMEDIATELY CRANKED THE APU BUT ONLY GOT MARGINAL AC PWR BACK AND STILL DID NOT HAVE CTR OR R HYD SYS PRESSURE. WE WERE ABLE TO STOP THE ACFT ABOUT THE SAME TIME I FELT A LOSS IN BRAKING AND STEERING CAPABILITY. WE WERE ABLE TO REMAIN ON TXWY AND NOTIFIED ATC WE WERE HAVING PROBS AND MIGHT NEED THE COMPANY TO SEND A TUG TO GET US TO THE GATE. FO SUGGESTED RESTARTING THE R ENG AND HAD TO ACCOMPLISH THAT WITH STANDBY ENG INDICATOR. THAT DID GET HYD PRESSURE FOR THE CTR AND R HYD SYS AND R AC BUS PWR. WE WERE THEN ABLE TO SEE WE HAD LOST THE L AC BUS AND THE L ENG GENERATOR BUT HAD NO IDEA WHICH CAME FIRST. SINCE IT APPEARED WE COULD NOW GET TO THE GATE SAFELY I ELECTED TO NOT RESET THE L AC BUS AND DO FURTHER TROUBLESHOOTING AT THE GATE WITH ZZZZ MECHS. THE PARKING WAS WITHOUT INCIDENT. DEBRIEFING WITH ZZZZ MAINT AND MAINT REPAIR MANUAL SENT WITH DESCRIPTIVE; LOSS OF L GENERATOR AND L AC BUS AFTER SHUTTING DOWN R ENG DURING TAXI-IN.
