Synopsis

HOLD SHORT XMISSION TO B737-800 FLT CREW IS BLOCKED AND RESPONDED TO BY ANOTHER ACFT RESULTING IN A CONFLICT WITH LNDG ACFT.

Narrative

TAXIING OUT; RECEIVED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS FROM GND CTL TO PROCEED E FROM CONCOURSE C ON TXWY CN STRAIGHT AHEAD TO RWY 17L. AS WE APCHED XING TXWY M THE COPLT AND I HEARD A BLOCKED GARBLED XMISSION ENDING WITH 'MIKE.' ANOTHER ACFT RESPONDED TO THAT XMISSION. AS WE PROCEED ACROSS TXWY M ONTO ED TO RWY 17L; I NOTICED AN ACFT ON SHORT FINAL FOR RWY 17R. HE WAS GOING TO PASS OVER THE TOP OF US BUT I DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH OF THIS AS IN MIAMI WE HAVE TXWY AA THAT CROSSES IN FRONT OF RWY 8L/26R. IN ANY EVENT DENVER GND CALLED OUR FLT NUMBER AND SAID 'STOP.' WHICH; WE DID. HE SAID WE WERE SUPPOSED TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY M. MY COPLT SAID WE DID NOT RECEIVE ANY SUCH XMISSION. HE SAID THAT WE ACKNOWLEDGED THE XMISSION. THE COPLT TOLD HIM THAT WAS NOT US AND HAD TO BE ANOTHER ACFT. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT WE DID ANYTHING WRONG. THERE IS NOTHING THAT I COULD FIND ON THE DENVER CHARTS SAYING THAT WE COULD NOT TAXI ON THAT TXWY WITH AN ACFT ON SHORT FINAL. I BELIEVE THAT A BETTER WAY TO HANDLE THIS IN THE FUTURE IS TO GIVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS THAT SAY TO PROCEED ON TXWY CN TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY M.
