ZFW CTLR VOICED CONCERN REGARDING MGMNT'S DECISION TO CANCEL A LONG TIME OPS WAIVER; CLAIMING INCREASED WORKLOAD/COMPLEXITY.

Narrative

I RECENTLY RPTED ON A MGMNT DECISION TO REVOKE A WAIVER/DIRECTIVE TO 7110.65 5-14-3 (REF 7210.3 8-2-7) CONCERNING ENTERING TEMPORARY ALTS FOR EBOUND DFW TERMINAL DEPS CLBING FROM ZFW UIM-LO (83) TO EITHER ZFW TXK-HI (90) OR ZFW SLR-HI (71). TODAY; SEVERE TSTMS ACROSS ZFW AIRSPACE CREATED AN ENORMOUS INCREASE IN WORKLOAD WITH DEPS HAVING TO BE REROUTED AND ADDITIONAL OVERFLT TFC IN THE AIRSPACE. TFC VOLUMES WERE VERY HIGH. I FOUND MYSELF SO BUSY WORKING UIM-LO (83) THAT I BARELY HAD TIME TO GET EVERYTHING DONE -- AND I HAD A D-SIDE. I NOTICED THE 2 HIGH SECTORS WERE EVEN BUSIER THAN I. IT WAS A SIMPLE DECISION TO MAKE: I STOPPED ENTERING TEMPORARY-230. THAT DECISION WAS NOT CHALLENGED BY THE SUPVR; REDUCED MY WORKLOAD AND GREATLY REDUCED THE WORKLOAD OF THE HIGH ALT CTLRS -- WHICH IS THE WHOLE INTENT OF THE WAIVER/DIRECTIVE PROVISION! AS I DESCRIBED IN MY PREVIOUS RPT; I BELIEVE MGMNT MADE A BAD DECISION TO RESCIND THIS WAIVER/DIRECTIVE; AND TO DATE; HAVE TURNED A DEAF EAR TO RECONSIDERATION OF THEIR DECISION -- IGNORING THE INCREASE IN WORKLOAD AND BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH THE WAIVER/DIRECTIVE.
