Synopsis

LEAR55 FLT CREW IS DISTRACTED BY DELAYS AND DEPARTS FROM WRONG RWY CAUSING GROUND CONTACT AND LANDING GEAR DAMAGE. FLT CREW DIVERTS TO SUITABLE ARPT AND DISCOVERS MAIN LNDG GEAR HAS BEEN SEVERELY DAMAGED.

Narrative

AFTER TAKING OFF ON THE WRONG RWY; AND USING ALL POSSIBLE RWY LENGTH TO DEPART (THE RWY WAS 3400 FT AND THE MISSION REQUIRED 4800 FT FROM PERFORMANCE); WE ENDED UP HITTING A BERM 260 FT FROM THE END OF RWY YY WHICH PUSHED THE R LNDG GEAR THROUGH THE WING. WE DIVERTED TO ZZZZ1 AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE PROB WAS CREATED BY NOT PUTTING DISTRS BEHIND US AND RUSHING TO GET IN THE AIR. WE WERE DELAYED 45 MINS AND TRYING TO KEEP A SCHEDULE WITH CUSTOMS. DISTRS AND DELAYS CAME FROM FO GOING OUT TO GET ICE; ACFT NOT STARTING (WEAK BATTERIES); PAX STILL INSIDE ON COMPUTER AFTER DOOR CLOSURE FOR DEP; UNFAMILIAR FIELD; AND ARPT DIAGRAM ON PEDESTAL AND NOT ON YOKE CLIP. BOTH CAPT AND COPLT BRIEFED THAT WE NEEDED 4800 FT FOR TKOF AND YET AFTER BEING ASKED BY TWR IF WE STILL WANTED TO GO TO RWY XX TAXIED OUT TO RWY YY AND DEPARTED WRONG RWY. MINDSET WAS TO GET INTO THE AIR AND BE ON OUR WAY. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS ARE TO STAY WITH SOP'S; DESIGNATED DUTIES. OTHER MITIGATING PROBS: ACFT WAS FIRST OF ITS TYPE AT THAT FIELD AND TWR WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH OUR PERFORMANCE. IT'S FRUSTRATING AND DISAPPOINTING BECAUSE THERE WAS 3 HRS OF BRIEFING WORK CUSTOMS; PERFORMANCE; FLT PLANNING; ARPT SPECIFICATIONS; AND APCH PROCS; THAT WE USED TO BE PROPERLY INFORMED.
