Synopsis

LIT TRACON CTLR CONDUCTING OJT EXPERIENCED MIN SEPARATION EVENT ASSUMING THE DEVELOPMENTAL CTLR COMPLETED NEEDED INTRAFAC COORD.

Narrative

I WAS TRAINING ON RADAR E AND A BE36 DEPARTED. A C130 WAS WORKING WITH ARR RADAR AND HAD JUST STARTED OUTBOUND FROM THE VOR TO MAKE A VOR APCH. THE BE36'S DEST WAS NE WHICH WOULD TAKE IT ACROSS THE FINAL FOR THE VOR APCH. I HEARD THE ARR CTLR AND THE DEVELOPMENTAL I WAS TRAINING COORDINATING AND THE BE36 WAS TURNED E TO PASS BEHIND THE C130. THE BE36 GOT 3 MI NE OF THE VOR CLBING OUT OF 3000 FT AND I NOTICED THE C130 TURN INBOUND AT 3000 FT. THE ARR CTLR DSNDED THE C130 TO 2000 FT AND I REALIZED THAT THE C130 WASN'T INBOUND BUT WAS STILL GOING TO TURN OUTBOUND AT 3000 FT WHICH WOULD PUT IT IN CONFLICT WITH THE BE36. I ASSUMED THE ARR CTLR AND THE DEVELOPMENTAL HAD COORDINATED THE C130 AND BE36 OP BUT I COULDN'T HEAR EVERYTHING THEY SAID. I ASSUMED THE C130 WOULD TURN INBOUND AND DSND BUT IN REALITY THE C130 WAS GOING TO TURN OUTBOUND AT THE VOR ONE MORE TIME BEFORE DSNDING. WHEN TRAINING; IT IS HARD TO HEAR EVERYTHING THAT IS BEING COORDINATED WHEN IT IS DONE WITHOUT USING THE LAND LINE TO COORDINATE. WE DON'T HAVE A REQUIREMENT TO USE THE LAND LINE FOR COORD BUT IT WOULD HAVE HELPED IN THIS SITUATION. I SHOULDN'T HAVE ASSUMED WHAT WAS COORDINATED SINCE I DIDN'T HEAR ALL OF IT.
