PA28-180 ENCOUNTERS WINDSHEAR ON FINAL TO ZZZ. HARD TOUCHDOWN ON SUBSEQUENT TOUCH AND GO DAMAGES LEFT GEAR STRUT WHICH LATER DEPARTS THE ACFT WHILE AIRBORNE.
DOWNDRAFT OF WIND OVER THE ROUND DOWN OF RWY XX AT ZZZ CAUSED A SINK RATE THAT WAS NOT CONTROLLABLE. HARD LNDG CAUSED THE EVENTUAL COLLAPSE OF L MAIN GEAR. MINOR DAMAGE OCCURRED DURING RECOVERY AT ZZZ1 WHEN A LNDG WAS MADE ON R MAIN MOUNT AND NOSE GEAR. GS INTERCEPT AT ZZZ SHOULD BE DISPLACED SO THAT EFFECTS OF WIND OVER THE ELEVATED RWY MAY BE NEGATED. CURRENT INTERCEPT POINT OCCURS TOO CLOSE TO THE EDGE OF THE CLIFF AND DOWNDRAFTS ARE TOO EASILY INFLUENCED BY TERRAIN AROUND ARPT. ZZZ INCIDENT OCCURRED AT XA00 AFTER 3 TOUCH AND GO LNDGS; ZZZ1 LNDG COMPLETED FLT AFTER CONTROLLABILITY CHKS AND FUEL DEPLETION FROM THE L TANK OCCURRED AT XB00. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: REPORTER EMPHASIZED THE ARPT SITS ON A MODEST RISE OF ABOUT 60 FEET ABOVE THE TERRAIN IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO RWY XX. HE STATED THE WINDS WERE ABOUT EIGHT KNOTS AND THAT THERE HAD BEEN NO INDICATION OF WINDSHEAR ON THE PREVIOUS TWO TOUCH AND GOES. HE STATED THAT HE HAD UTILIZED A SLOWER APCH SPEED ON THE INCIDENT APCH AND FELT THAT THIS EXPOSED THE ACFT TO GREATER IMPACT FROM ANY WINDSHEAR. HE EXPANDED ON THE INCIDENT ADVISING THE TOUCHDOWN WAS FIRM BUT NOT BEYOND OTHER LANDINGS IN HIS INSTRUCTING EXPERIENCE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER COMPLETING THE TKOF FROM THE THIRD TOUCH AND GO. HE MADE THE DECISION TO PROCEED TO HIS HOME ARPT AVOIDING INHABITED AREAS.
